HOUSTON — Last evening Drew Brees was attending the Annual Mack, Jack & McConaughey Gala at ACL Live in Austin, Texas, while the New Orleans Saints were preparing for the 2023 NFL Draft. On this cool Friday morning in Texas, the NFL legend took out time to talk about the direction of the New Orleans Saints, his thoughts on Derek Carr, Jameis Winston, Bryan Bresee, his family, faith, and partnership with Copper Compression as he sipped coffee while sitting outside of hotel room.

COPPER COMPRESSION PARTNERSHIP

To alleviate his football-related aches and pains, Brees relies on Copper Compression products. "They say you will play the game injured. Copper Compression products, whether you use the sleeves, hand, or foot products, they all help the recovery process."

Drew set numerous records in his twenty seasons as a signal-caller in the National Football. He credits his longevity to what he calls 'pre-hab.' "As an athlete, you make money because of how you perform. Just maintaining your health and body is critical. I had to deal with injuries in the latter part of my career. The recovery process for me was all week. I spent most of my time in 'pre-hab' to avoid rehab. So from Monday to Saturday, leading up to the next game, I had my body in recovery mode. Taking care of your body, getting the proper sleep, and nutrition the older you get is important for your health."

Drew, a brand ambassador, once used Copper Compression to reduce his recovery time after practices or games. Today, it's from staying active and enjoying outdoor sporting activities. "I couldn't do certain sports like surfing or paddling boarding since it was prohibited in my contract, but it's important to have an active lifestyle. I'm 44, so the products help me stay active the older I get."

LIKES THE DIRECTION OF THE SAINTS

"I like the direction of the team," Brees told Saints News Network. "The Saints brought in the young defensive player Bryan Bresee from Clemson last night. Derek Carr is the new quarterback, there are special players on the offense and defense, and the team was within a couple of wins of going to the playoffs. Things look good for us."

ON DEREK CARR

"He's been around the league for some time. I believe he's a good fit for the Saints' offense and what we are trying to accomplish. He's in with a new team. I know he had some issues with his old team, but Derek will be great in New Orleans."

Drew Brees and Jameis Winston - Admiration

JAMEIS WINSTON

I am impressed with Jameis. He's handled things professionally. Look, I've been through a similar situation in San Diego. He's a great teammate. He was there with me and became the starter after I left. Being injured, rehabbing through it, and being hurt again is tough. Jameis will be supportive while getting himself ready for another opportunity."

ON THE SAINTS IN 2023-24

What is Drew's outlook on Dennis Allen's and Pete Carmichael's second season in New Orleans with Sean Payton in the building? "I feel we've been running this offense forever since I came here in 2006. The Saints have great leadership. Think about those guys on defense who've been here for some time and get the job done. The offense with Derek Carr is in a good place for the team to win."

THE SAINTS IN THE NFC SOUTH

"For the last couple of years, I feel that we were a game or two from winning the division," Brees noted. "The NFC South is up for grabs, and the Saints are in a good position. Look, Carolina drafted Bryce Young, and Atlanta has Desmond Ridder. Tampa has Baker [Mayfield]. We'll see what happens there. But, the Saints have a chance to win this division with the talent on the team."

ON BECOMING A COACH

"Not at this time," Brees said about coaching on the collegiate or professional level. "I saw what has to be done as a coach. You must dedicate a lot of time to college and the pros. I want to spend time with my kids, and watch them grow up. Especially on the weekends, they need me there at their games and events. So, I coach them up at home and with their friends. At this time, my focus is on my family."

Drew Brees has faced numerous challenges and hardships in his life, but he credits his unwavering faith as the cornerstone of his achievements. He quoted scripture from Romans and spoke about living in your talents and purpose.

Although many could see the future first-ballot Pro Football Hall of Famer patrolling the sidelines one day as an NFL head coach, don't expect it to happen soon — these days, being healthy, enjoying retirement, and being with his family suit Drew Brees just fine.
