NEW ORLEANS - One of the NFL's most incredible offseason stories has been right here in the Big Easy. New Orleans Saints tight end Foster Moreau visited the team in March as a free agent wherein a physical by the team's medical staff uncovered a positive diagnosis for Stage-2 Hodgkin's Lymphoma. This week, he announced via social media that he is in full remission.

Hodgkin's Lymphoma is a type of cancer which impacts a part of a patient's immune system. Moreau vowed a return to football shortly after the news and continuously gave positive updates via interviews on "Good Morning America" and the Adam Schefter podcast.

He would also go on to sign with the Saints just one day after being cleared to play by physicians and made a surprise appearance at the team's first day of organized team activities. That same day he spoke with New Orleans media. Moreau was very clear that he expects this to be a lifelong battle of his own, even though he is certain there will be no impact on his playing ability neither from the treatment nor the cancer itself.

"In a complete remission," per the American Cancer Society, "All the signs and symptoms of cancer go away, and cancer cells can’t be found by any tests." But unfortunately recurrence is still a concern. So yes, Moreau will have to continue to fight his lifelong battle but so far, he is winning.

And the Saints hope to continue that celebration by winning with him on the field. The team has rebuilt its tight end room this offseason with the departure of former third-round selection Adam Trautman to the Denver Broncos and the addition of Moreau to work in tandem with standout pass-catcher Juwan Johnson.

Last year, Moreau and Saints new quarterback Derek Carr were together with the Las Vegas Raiders. In 2022 Moreau reeled in 33 receptions and 420 receiving yards (both career highs) along with a pair of touchdowns on 54 targets. Johnson piled up 42 catches for 508 receiving yards and 7 touchdown receptions. The tandem was already highly anticipated ahead of the 2023 season, but the news brings another layer to the excitement.
