NFL Insiders Believe Dennis Allen Will Return As Saints Coach

Unless something drastic happens or changes, it looks like Dennis Allen will return for a third year as the Saints head coach.

The Saints are going to either keep their slim playoff chances going into the final game of the regular season or see it all come to an end depending on how Sunday's NFC South matchup against the Bucs finishes. There's a lot of speculation at this time of the year regarding Dennis Allen's future, but NFL Network's Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero say there shouldn't be many questions regarding his status.

Their Sunday morning report cites a lot of support for Allen from owner Gayle Benson and general manager Mickey Loomis while weathering an Alvin Kamara suspension, injuries at various positions and an offensive line/front seven shuffle.

Per Rapoport and Pelissero, "There may be changes coming to New Orleans, though. The offensive side of the ball will get a thorough examination following 2023. But those decisions for Allen and the Saints will be made in the coming months, with all indications as of now that he'll get a third season."

From everything Saints News Network has gathered regarding this situation and reported just nine days ago, it does feel like Allen will get another crack at things with New Orleans going into 2024. If the team can't beat both Tampa and Atlanta to close out the year, then it will absolutely raise some questions. It would be the third straight year being absent from the postseason for the Saints.

The Saints will have to get under the cap again and go into next season with a lot of the players they already have. Some of the draft picks haven't panned out how they envisioned, while some of the later picks and undrafted rookies have actually done a nice job. New Orleans has many questions to answer this offseason, but until they're out of it this season, there's not many reasons to go there. However, that might quickly change.
