3 Cameron Jordan Landing Spots as Saints Legend Remains Unsigned

The Saints still have a chance to take a shot on Cameron Jordan in free agency this offseason...

New Orleans Saints legend pass rusher Cameron Jordan completely revitalized his career by recording double digit sacks last season. He turned back the clock during a contract year, which seemed to be the perfect time to do it. As a result, he was expected to get paid this offseason.

But he hasn't.

In fact, Jordan remains a free agent long after he was expected to be signed. We're quickly coming up on the NFL draft, and there's a new crop of defensive linemen set to enter the league. Could Jordan's time in the NFL be over despite the fact that he recorded double-digit sacks last season?

That shouldn't be the case. There are a handful of teams around the league that could use Jordan on their roster this season.

Who could still look to sign the veteran defensive lineman before it's too late?

Cincinnati Bengals

The Cincinnati Bengals need to upgrade their defense as desperately as any team in the league. They've added players like Bryan Cook, Boye Mafe, and Jonathan Allen in free agency, but that's not enough to turn the worst defense in the league into a competitive one. Jordan would be the perfect player to add to the roster without breaking the bank. He'd provide run stuffing ability alongide pass rushing upside while still producing at a high level.

Dallas Cowboys

The Dallas Cowboys could be a fit for Jordan, too. After trading Micah Parsons last season, they haven't quite recovered. They were seemingly in on Maxx Crosby, but nothing ever came of it. As a result, they could pivot to the more affordable Jordan in an attempt to open their Super Bowl window a bit wider this season. It could make sense. The fact that Jordan isn't likely to land a big deal makes it even more realistic.

New Orleans Saints

We can't write off a reunion with the Saints at this point. While the Saints likely would have signed him by now if they were going to, it doesn't make any sense to let him sign elsewhere if he's going to sign an affordable deal. The Saints won't be able to replace him effectively with the No. 8 pick in the draft. They need to be targeting wide receivers either way. Re-signing Jordan would give them another year to find the edge rusher of the future to pair with Chase Young.
