Cowboys' Micah Parsons Jokingly Hinting at Joining Seahawks, Coach Dan Quinn?

With Dallas Cowboys defensive coordinator Dan Quinn likely being at the top of the Seattle Seahawks' coach wish list, it felt at least somewhat significant when star linebacker Micah Parsons said Wednesday that Quinn would "take" him wherever he is hired.

When the news dropped out of nowhere Wednesday that Pete Carroll would no longer be the head coach of the Seattle Seahawks after 14 seasons, attention quickly turned to who the team will hire to replace him.

The quick answer was Dallas Cowboys defensive coordinator Dan Quinn, who was an assistant and defensive coordinator in Seattle on two separate occasions before becoming the head coach of the Atlanta Falcons in 2015. He's already got connections to the franchise and has orchestrated some elite defenses over the past few seasons, making him a top-tier selection for any team.

So with Quinn likely being near the top of the Seahawks' coach wish list, it felt at least somewhat significant when star linebacker Micah Parsons playfully said Wednesday that he would go wherever Quinn is hired due to the relationship the two have built together.

“Dan is my guy. And if he does leave, it’s always love. He might take me with him, you never know," Parsons said with a laugh.

Reading Parsons' quote about joining Quinn wherever he goes can make it hard to tell if he was joking or not, but watching the video makes it easier. During the media scrum, those around Parsons joined him in his quick collective laugh before moving on.  If Parsons wasn't kidding, the tone in the room would've been a bit more serious and he'd have been bombarded with questions about the comment.

But let Seahawks fans dream for a second, okay?

Hiring one of the hottest coaching names in the league and adding a world-class linebacker as well sounds like a dream scenario for a Seahawks team that's on the cusp of contending. Parsons could be the missing juice for an up-and-down defense, but it's best to not get lost too deep in fantasy land this early in the offseason.

Parsons is a franchise cornerstone for the Cowboys, who will likely sign him to a new deal before he becomes an unrestricted free agent in 2026. Trading him feels out of the question for Dallas at this point in the career. There's very few trade packages in return that warrant dealing away one of the league's best pass-rushers.

Seahawks fans certainly wish Parsons wasn't joking around. Adding his one-of-kind ability to help establish the future of Seattle's defense would be a dream for Seahawks fans, especially since Parsons would ideally be paired with Quinn in this fantasy scenario.

During the regular season, Parsons posted a career-high 14 sacks to go along with 64 total tackles, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery.

Though the Seahawks' season is over, fans will likely be interested to see how Quinn and the Cowboys do during the postseason. Dallas kicks off its Wild Card matchup with the Green Bay Packers on Sunday inside AT&T Stadium at 1:30 p.m. PT.
