'Not Many Positives' From Seattle Seahawks Loss to Baltimore Ravens, Says Coach Pete Carroll

The Baltimore Ravens tore apart the Seattle Seahawks in a 37-3 loss, and as expected, Pete Carroll says there weren't a lot of positives to come out of the game.

The Seattle Seahawks are likely still picking up the pieces from their 37-3 loss to the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday in a game that would tell us where Pete Carroll's team stands in the pecking order this season. Despite the hype, it was a forgettable performance.

After trailing 17-3 a halftime, the Seahawks were rendered rudderless in the second half as the Ravens scored 20 unanswered points in a dominating display.

After such a poor performance, Carroll says there wasn't much the team could take out of the game.

“Not many positives really, it was very difficult game, and we struggled throughout," Carroll said. "[We] kind of started all right but then had our chances at halftime, and when we didn't convert at halftime and turn that turnover into a little bit of a point change. That second half was hard, and they [Ravens] played really well.”

It was Seattle's third loss, again marked a game where the offense, led by Geno Smith, had multiple turnovers.

Baltimore Ravens wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. (3) catches a pass for a touchdown in front of Seattle Seahawks cornerback Riq Woolen (27) during the fourth quarter at M&T Bank Stadium.

After only having one interception in his first four games, Smith has had six interceptions in his last four games. Turnovers are now becoming a concerning issue that is starting to plague the Seattle offense.

Of course, it's not all on Geno, but as Carroll states, being the quarterback, things naturally gravitate toward him when things go wrong.

“We've already talked about it and started the conversation moving forward,” Carroll said. “We struggled across the board on offense, so everybody had some difficulties in this game, and it just added up to where the quarterback is in the middle of that. So, we have to do a lot better, we got to protect better, we had some communication things that we can clean up and all of that, but I think that Geno's consistent accountability is really a strength of his, and it helps the guys around him. But we got to help him we got to make sure we're doing our part.”

The Seahawks are now left to recover after a poor performance that isn't a true reflection of who they have been throughout the early part of the season.

While there were no positives to take from the game, and the offensive turnovers need to be cut out, the Seahawks get a chance to put that behind them when they host the Washington Commanders at Lumen Field on Sunday.
