'Genius' Seahawks 'Biggest Trade Heist in History!' K.J. Wright Roasts Russell Wilson, Broncos

Last offseason, the Seattle Seahawks and the Broncos made one of the biggest trades in NFL history, sending quarterback Russell Wilson to Denver. K.J. Wright doesn't think it was just the "biggest,'' however. He also thinks it is the "worst.''

The Seattle Seahawks' success in it dealing with the Denver Broncos is well-documented. Seattle received two first- and two second-round picks, plus a trio of players, in exchange for QB Russell Wilson.

Wilson flopped in Denver as the Broncos finished 5-12, with reports claiming the Broncos sure wish they had an "exit strategy.'' The Seahawks, meanwhile, flourished, elevating Geno Smith to the first team and finishing 9-8 with a playoff berth.

Add it all up, and former Seahawks standout K.J. Wright is labeling it "the biggest trade heist in NFL history.''

Wright comes to his conclusion by weighing what Seattle received, how Wilson and Denver performed last year, and how new Broncos coach Sean Payton is somewhat hamstrung by it all.

"When I look at this Russell Wilson situation, this could potentially go down as the biggest trade heist in NFL history,'' Wright tells NFL Network. "We're talking two first-found picks, we're talking two second-round picks, we're talking a bunch of good football players Noah Fant, Shelby Harris, Drew Lock. ...

"We're talking about they gave this man five years, and paid him a lot of money to say you are our guy for the next five years,'' Wright continued. "Russell Wilson, we're putting all of our eggs into (your basket) and all they've gotten so far is five wins, and a fired head coach.''

Wright was Wilson's teammate in Seattle for the better part of a decade, with Super Bowl success to their credit. But now, as Wright morphs into his post-football career? He's choosing to call it like he sees it. And part of what he sees is new Broncos head coach Sean Payton having his hands full trying to fix Wilson.

"So right now this is looking very scary (for Denver), this is looking ugly, and the Seahawks they really hit on their draft picks,'' Wright said, adding that the "biggest trade heist in history'' is making Seattle bosses GM John Schneider and coach Pete Carroll “look like geniuses” for orchestrating the trade.
