Seahawks 90-Man Countdown: RB Bryant Koback
With the calendar flipping to June and offseason activities well underway league-wide, the Seattle Seahawks will open training camp at the VMAC in less than two months, officially ushering in the 2023 season.
To celebrate the new incoming season, I will be detailing every member of the Seahawks 90-man roster over the next several weeks, exploring best and worst case scenarios and what to expect from each player entering the 2023 campaign.
Bryant Koback, Running Back
Height/Weight: 6'0, 210 pounds
2022 Stats*: 21 carries, 67 yards, one touchdown

A two-time All-MAC selection starring at Toledo, the powerful, hard-running Koback churned out over 4,000 rushing yards and 45 touchdowns while nearly averaging six yards per carry in four seasons for the Rockets at the college level. He also became a factor as a receiver in his final two seasons on campus, snagging 54 passes for 562 yards and five touchdowns as a pass catcher, capping off his career with a First-Team selection.
Despite his production as both a runner and receiver and an impressive pro day workout, Koback wasn't drafted and joined the Vikings as a priority undrafted free agent. After being cut in late August, he spent the entirety of his first year in the NFL on the practice squad and wasn't brought back on a future/reserve deal, eventually signing with the Seahawks in May.
Best-Case Scenario: Holding his own competing against veteran DeeJay Dallas and incoming rookie Kenny McIntosh, Koback puts on a show during the preseason rushing for over 150 yards and a pair of touchdowns while also showing off pass-catching chops, pulling off a stunner by forcing one of the other backs off the Week 1 roster with his stellar all-around play.
Worst-Case Scenario: Only receiving crumbs behind rookie Zach Charbonnet, Dallas, and McIntosh during training camp and the preseason, Koback isn't able to stand out in a crowded running back group and the team winds up signing another back to the practice squad in September.
What to Expect in 2023: With Seattle welcoming back Rookie of the Year runner up Ken Walker III and Dallas along with drafting Charbonnet and McIntosh, Koback will have a difficult time earning a roster spot unless another player goes down with an injury. For him to have any shot, he will have to emerge as a capable special teams player on kick and punt coverage and flash as a pass protector and receiver for consideration on third downs.
While Koback's chances of making the 53-man roster look slim, given the high injury rates and attrition at the position, playing his way into a practice squad spot likely would open the door for him to make his NFL regular season debut for the Seahawks at some point in the 2023 season.
