Seattle Seahawks Coach Pete Carroll Embracing Late-Season Push: 'Our Shot!'

The Seattle Seahawks are on a four-game losing streak and have four games remaining in the regular season, which for Pete Carroll, is his team's chance to do something productive.

The Seattle Seahawks season is on life support as coach Pete Carroll's team is on a four-game losing streak. With quarterback Geno Smith dealing with a groin injury, things are looking downhill at the worst possible point of the season.

But despite sitting at 6-7, the Philadelphia Eagles are next on the schedule Monday night, giving Seattle a chance to secure a big win. The Eagles are coming off back-to-back blowout losses to the San Francisco 49ers and the Dallas Cowboys, so they could be there for the taking.

For Carroll, while the team has failed to win in the last month, the season's final stretch is a chance to get something out of what has been a frustrating year.

“We’ve got four games at the end of the schedule here that makes up this old-time fourth quarter of the season, and this is our shot," Carroll said. "This is our shot to do something. We had our opportunity this past weekend; we didn’t get it done to get it started, but we’ve got to start a roll here. Coming up on Monday night against a great team, here we go. We’re going to face it, and we’ve got to do something about it. Let’s make something out of this year.”

As it stands, the Seahawks are on the outside looking in on the playoffs and will need to string some wins together if they are to return to the postseason for a second straight year.

First up is a reeling Eagles team (10-3) at Lumen Field, followed by a road game against the Tennessee Titans (5-8), home for the Pittsburgh Steelers (7-6), before finishing on the road at the Arizona Cardinals (3-10).

If, and that's a big if, the Seahawks can take down the Eagles on Monday night, the rest of the schedule opens up, and Carroll's team could go on a run. However, they would need the Los Angeles Rams to stutter down the stretch as Sean McVay's team has beaten Seattle twice.

The Seahawks are reeling, but as Carroll states, the final stretch of the season is a chance to make something out of the year. What better way than to play spoiler to the Eagles while also keeping your season alive?

Monday's kickoff is set for 5:15 p.m. PT.
