NFL Top 100 Players: How Many Seahawks Make the Cut?

Two of the Seattle Seahawks' stars made the cut for CBS Sports' Top 100 Player List
In this story:

The Seattle Seahawks caught the attention of the NFL world last season when, despite trading away franchise quarterback Russell Wilson in the offseason, they surpassed all expectations and made a surprise playoff appearance.

Now heading into the 2023 season, the Seahawks are in the spotlight again as a playoff contender, meaning some of their top players are as well due to their contributions last season.

With the offseason winding down, CBS Sports released its annual list of the top 100 players in the NFL. The Seahawks had some representation, landing two players on the list.

The first to make the cut is star receiver D.K. Metcalf, coming in at No. 55.

Metcalf had a strong season in 2022, catching a career-high 90 passes for 1,048 yards and six touchdowns while becoming a favorite target for quarterback Geno Smith. He also improved as short-yardage receiver too, with his yards per reception decreasing but catches seeing an uptick.

"He had a career-best 90 catches last season, but his per-catch average went down," CBS Sports wrote. "He did have six touchdown receptions."

The second and final Seahawk on the list is cornerback Tariq Woolen, who comes in at No. 86.

A fifth-round pick last year, Woolen took the league by storm in his rookie season. He started all 17 games for Seattle and recorded 63 tackles, 16 passes defended and six interceptions, tied for the most in the league, which helped him finish as a Defensive Rookie of the Year finalist.

"As a rookie, he was a top corner who has the tools to be even higher on this list next year," CBS Sports wrote. "He is a big, long corner who can cover."

A few other Seahawks also appeared in CBS Sports' lengthy honorable mentions section. Those players include Smith, offensive tackle Charles Cross, linebacker Bobby Wagner and defensive tackle Dre'Mont Jones. The former two were with the Seahawks last season, while the latter two are new additions this offseason (or re-addition in Wagner's case).

As the Seahawks look to ascend to contender status in 2023, they'll hope to have more players on this list in 2024.
