Seahawks WRs DK Metcalf, Tyler Locket: NFL's Best Duo?
The Seattle Seahawks boasted the NFL's ninth-best scoring offense last season, averaging 23.9 points per game on 351.5 yards of total offense. A big reason why their offense was so explosive is the dynamic receiver duo of DK Metcalf and Tyler Lockett.
Not many receiver pairs in the league can say they're better than the one in Seattle, with Metcalf and Lockett landing in the top of CBS Sports' receiver duo power rankings at No. 5 overall.
"For all his world-class athleticism and superhuman physique, Metcalf hasn't necessarily been as dominant as you'd expect, clearing 1,100 yards once in four years," CBS Sports writes. "Even so, he demands constant attention, is a virtual lock for 100 targets and should now be freed up even more by the arrival of rookie Jaxon Smith-Njigba."
Sure, Metcalf has only surpassed 1,110 yards once in his four-year career. However, he has two 1,000-yard seasons to his name and the other two years saw him hit 900 and 967 yards, respectively. Simply put, he's no slouch.
He also has not been targeted less than 100 times in a season, with his 141 targets las year a career-high mark. Pair him with a receiver of Lockett's caliber and the Seahawks undoubtedly have one of the league's best combos.
"The slippery Lockett is already an automatic sidekick, looking for a fifth straight 1,000-yard season while securing almost 74 percent of his targets the last five years," CBS wrote.
Like the site mentioned, Lockett's receiving yards haven't dipped below 1,000 yards since 2018 - and even then, he came up just 35 yards short after finishing with 965. In that five-year span, he's hauled in 396 receptions for 5,284 yards and 45 touchdowns, cementing himself alongside Metcalf as one of the league's best duos.
