DK Metcalf Among Three Seahawks Fined vs. Lions

Seattle Seahawks receiver DK Metcalf, linebacker Darrell Taylor and cornerback Tre Brown all received fines for their actions in Week 2's win over the Detroit Lions.

Three Seattle Seahawks players received fines from the NFL in the wake of their 37-31 overtime win against the Detroit Lions.

The three players in question are receiver D.K. Metcalf and cornerback Tre Brown, both for unnecessary roughness, and linebacker Darrell Taylor for a late hit on Lions quarterback Jared Goff.

Metcalf's fine of $10,927 stemmed from a play late in the third quarter when he was called for a face mask on Lions defensive back Kerby Joseph. However, a defensive pass interference penalty on Joseph resulted in the play offsetting.

This marks Metcalf's third fine of the season in just two games. In the season opener against the Los Angeles Rams, Metcalf laid a late hit on cornerback Ahkello Witherspoon and was flagged for taunting on the ensuing injury timeout. Metcalf received two separate fines of $10,927 for each infraction. In total, Metcalf has now lost over $32,000 in fines over the first two weeks of the season.

Like Metcalf, Brown also received a fine for a face mask penalty, albeit a smaller one of $6,112. Brown's penalty came early in the third quarter, and immediately proved costly as the Lions scored later on the drive.

Finally, Taylor received the biggest fine of the trio at $11,957. Midway through the fourth quarter, the Lions ran a fake where Goff pretended to drop back but instead handed it off to receiver Kalif Raymond on a jet sweep. Taylor bit badly on the fake and laid a very late hit on Goff, resulting in a big Detroit gain.

Taylor had a similarly unaware moment last season, albeit a much more comedic one. After a Seahawks interception in Week 12 against the Las Vegas Raiders, Taylor ran on to the field from the sideline and started blocking. Humorously, the referees didn't notice so Taylor and the Seahawks got off scott free.

The Seahawks will be looking to avoid any further fines when they take on the Carolina Panthers on Sunday.
