Seahawks' Jamal Adams Set For Long-Awaited Return: 'He is So Ready!'

After missing more than an entire calendar year with injury, Seattle Seahawks safety Jamal Adams will make his grand return in Week 4 against the New York Giants.

Seattle Seahawks safety Jamal Adams will make his highly-anticipated season debut in Week 4's battle with the New York Giants at MetLife Stadium, coach Pete Carroll confirmed.

"Jamal is back," Carroll told Seattle Sports 710-AM, per ESPN. "He's got to make it through the week, but he's ready to go."

One of the best box safeties in the game, Adams has missed more than entire year with injury. He suffered a torn quad in last year's season opener against the Denver Broncos, causing him to miss the entire 2022 campaign, the 2023 offseason and now the first few games of this season.

It's been a long road back for the former All-Pro, but now that he's on the cusp of returning, Adams is just happy to get back on the field.

"He is so ready," Carroll said. "As jacked up and excited of a player as he is, we've just got to keep him calmed down. I've already started talking to him about that so he doesn't lose his brains because he's so fired up to play."

The No. 6 overall pick in 2017, Adams came to Seattle via a blockbuster trade with the New York Jets in 2020. In 25 games with the Seahawks, he has 173 total tackles, 9.5 sacks, nine passes defended, two interceptions and a forced fumble. Adams earned his third consecutive Pro Bowl nod, and so far his only in Seattle, and a second-team All-Pro selection in 2020.

For all the good Adams has done, injuries have plagued him throughout his time in Seattle. In addition to his injury last year, he also missed four games with a groin injury in 2020 and five with a torn labrum. After Adams only missed two games total in his three years with the Jets, injuries have been a surprising issue with his second team.

If Adams were to return for any game, though, this would be a good pick. While he's not facing his former team, this does mark his first trip back to MetLife Stadium since he left the Jets.
