Seahawks RB Kenny McIntosh Compares Rookie Minicamp to Georgia: 'No-Brainer!'

The early transition from college to the NFL is going smoothly for Seattle Seahawks running back Kenny McIntosh.

Seattle Seahawks rookie minicamp will start its third and final day on Tuesday. It is the first chance for the rookie class to work with and impress their coaches. But, for sixth-round draft pick Kenny McIntosh, it is just the beginning as he competes to make the 53-man roster following training camp.

For some, transitioning from the college game to the NFL is a hard adjustment. Others hit the ground running, which is the category that McIntosh seems to be part of. The former Georgia Bulldog won two national championships in his four years in Athens and knows a thing or two about the work ethic required to play on Sundays.

“It’s been smooth," McIntosh said of the Seahawks' rookie minicamp. "Being out here competing with these guys, it really reminded me of Georgia. I’m not going to lie to you. The way Georgia practices and how we got after things, I would say that Kirby [Smart] really is similar to what we do here at the next level to get better.

Everything I did in college is like a repeat. They are saying the same things that my coaches said at the college level, so being out here was like a no-brainer."

McIntosh isn't the only former Bulldog to say this about the Georgia program. The Bulldogs have developed a reputation under Smart for producing NFL talent, largely due to their elite-level recruiting. Georgia has continuously landed some of the top players from the high school ranks.

Except McIntosh wasn't one of those highly-touted players out of high school. Instead, he was a three-star prospect, according to 247Sports, and had to sit and develop behind other NFL backs before getting his time to shine.

It wasn't until his senior year that McIntosh was a premier back for the Bulldogs. When his number was finally called, he proved productive, recording over 1,300 yards from scrimmage. Being more than just a typical running back, McIntosh featured heavily as a pass catcher.

Being a proverbial "underdog" is nothing new for McIntosh, as he may face an uphill battle to make the 53-man roster for the Seahawks after a standout rookie season from Kenneth Walker III and the second-round addition of UCLA running back Zach Charbonnet.

But he's embracing the opportunity regardless of what's in store.

"It's just going out there and being able to be around these guys that have been fortunate enough to come to the next level and compete at a high level," he said. "I’m excited to be here.”
