Seahawks RB Kenny McIntosh Officially Signs, Contract Details Revealed
The Seattle Seahawks have officially signed the first rookie from their 2023 draft class, and it's not either of the team's first-round picks.
Seattle has inked seventh-round Georgia Bulldogs running back Kenny McIntosh, the team's last pick of the draft, to a four-year deal worth $3.93 million that includes a $90K signing bonus, per reports Thursday from KPRC2. The last running back taken in the draft has now seen his NFL dreams realized with some life-changing money and a huge opportunity still in front of him.
A two-time national champion as a versatile running back at Georgia, McIntosh has played on the biggest stages with a program that is essentially the 33rd team in the NFL.
But despite all this, getting that draft call from the Seahawks on Saturday caused him to be overcome with emotion. Doubt was setting in, as McIntosh was preparing to potentially sign some undrafted free agent deals before the Seahawks took him with the No. 237th overall pick.
His ensuing draft call with the team proved to be an emotional one due to the long waiting game McIntosh had to play before officially receiving the good news.
"Whatever you want in a running back, I got it," he said.
Based on his collegiate production, it's hard to argue with this. Last season, McIntosh led the Bulldogs in rushing yards (829) and rushing touchdowns (10) while also finishing as the team's third-leading receiver (504 yards).
McIntosh will likely enters the season as the fourth option in Seahawks the backfield. But in the craziness and unpredictability the NFL provides, he's ready for his chance, whenever that might come.
“So let’s just bring it on," McIntosh said. "I'm ready for the challenge. ... They are going to know who Kenny is.”
