Seattle Seahawks Coach Pete Carroll Lauds 'Really Impressive' Consistency of San Francisco 49ers Offense

The Seattle Seahawks and San Francisco 49ers are set to do battle for the second time in three weeks.

The Seattle Seahawks have to pick themselves off the canvas and prepare for their second meeting against the San Francisco 49ers at Levi's Stadium on Sunday. After narrowly losing to the Dallas Cowboys 41-35, Seattle has to turn its attention to Kyle Shanahan's juggernaut.

The Seahawks were bullied 31-13 in the Week 12 loss to the Niners, and will no doubt have learned a lot as the second meeting approaches.

For head coach Pete Carroll, for all the impressive things the 49ers do on offense, one stands out above all others.

“It is getting the ball in guys’ hands that can really make things happen," Carroll said. "They’re really good at doing it. Kyle (Shanahan) does a great job of (Christian) McCaffrey in all ways, in the multiplicity of it. They have identified his talents, they’re using him to the max, same with Deebo (Samuel), George (Kittle), and (Brandon) Aiyuk also. They use their people really well. They maximize the potential of their guys in a consistent way. I think it’s really impressive of them to do that.”

There is enough weaponry for the Seahawks to have their hands full on Sunday, but one thing that will have to be conscious of is penalties.

Against the Cowboys, the Seahawks were flagged 10 times for 130 yards as Carroll made his feelings on it clear post-game. Coming up against a 49ers team fresh off a beating of the Philadelphia Eagles 42-19, Seattle can ill-afford to beat itself.

Carroll knows the importance of limiting the laundry against San Francisco.

"The officiating was part of that [Cowboys] game, and it made a big difference in the game, and it went both sides," Carroll said. "Both sides, there were a lot of calls and a lot of things that you look at. I need to make sure that isn’t the factor in the game. We don’t need that to be the factor, we have to clean our stuff up, so that isn’t the issue where calls can be made that can change the game.

"Defensively, the game gets marred a little bit, because of the first downs that were made on penalties and stuff. We were playing better than that. We should’ve been able to receive the rewards of that, but we gave them too much. There’s stuff to be done.”

The Seahawks are reeling and are on a three-game losing streak but can feel good in part due to their efforts against Dallas. But with the 49ers running away with the division and Seattle's position in the playoffs in serious danger, it's gut-check time for the Seahawks.

It's a division road game against a rival, and with their backs against the wall, Seattle has to come out swinging and land a blow to the 49ers, who are usually the ones doing the hitting.
