DK Metcalf headed into Thursday's matchup with the Dallas Cowboys at AT&T Stadium still looking to find some familiarity with the end zone. An inconsistent Seattle Seahawks offense had limited the star receiver to just three touchdowns this season.

He doubled that total on Thursday, but his three scores on six catches for 134 yards and an overall resurgent performance from the Seattle offense wasn't enough to out-run the Cowboys, whose defense came up with two huge fourth-down stops in the final minutes to send the Seahawks home with a 41-35 loss and a third straight defeat.

“I’m proud as hell of our guys and how they fought," Seahawks coach Pete Carroll said.

Seattle led 35-27 with 14:17 left in the fourth after Metcalf's third score, but would end up surrendering 14 unanswered points to close out the game.

The Seahawks (6-6) hadn't reached the 30-point mark since Week 3, but managed to gash a Cowboys defense that's continued to put up elite performances. Seattle quarterback Geno Smith faced tons of pressure, but still put together one of his best games of the season by going 23 of 41 passing for 334 yards, three touchdowns and one pick. He added a five-yard rushing touchdown in the third quarter.

However, facing a 4th and 2 with 1:07 to play and trailing 41-35, Smith was pressured into a quick incompletion by Cowboys star linebacker Micah Parsons, who ended any chance of hope in an anticlimactic ending for an offense that had had its way for most of the night.

Dallas (9-3) secured its 14th straight home win thanks to more excellence from quarterback Dak Prescott. He finished 29 of 41 passing for 299 yards and three touchdowns.

Despite the loss, it was a performance to feel positive about for the Seahawks offense. Metcalf scored a 73-yard touchdown on Seattle's third offensive play of the game and found the end zone again with four seconds left in the the first half to give Seattle a 21-20 lead at halftime.

Smith added his rushing touchdown on the first possession of the second half to extend the lead to 28-20. But the Cowboys came rolling back, slowing taking control in the second half.
