It’s game day, as the Seattle Seahawks (6-6) go on the road to face the (9-3) San Francisco 49ers on Sunday afternoon.

It is their second matchup in just three weeks, as they last met on Thanksgiving, where the 49ers handed the Seahawks a 31-13 defeat at home that became Seattle’s second of three losses in consecutive weeks.

After seemingly being in contention for the NFC West, a three-game losing streak has put the Seahawks in a battle for second place, as the resurgent Los Angeles Rams have been the winners of three in a row and have risen up the standings. Meanwhile, the 49ers are cruising with a four-game winning streak that has them three games clear of both LA and Seattle.

While the Niners are fresh off a dominant 42-19 win over the Philadelphia Eagles, the Seahawks suffered a heartbreaking 41-35 loss to the Dallas Cowboys that came down to the final seconds, where Micah Parsons pressured Geno Smith into an incomplete pass on fourth down.

However, even in the loss, the Seahawk's offense left much to be optimistic about going forward. Seattle totaled 406 total yards of offense, while converting nine of their 14 third down attempts, which has been an issue this season.

“There was a lot of positives in that game, and our ability to convert on third down, you could see," Seahawks coach Pete Carroll said. "Look at the difference in the game. It was a fantastic start; I think we were (9 of 14), which is great stuff. It allowed us to have long drives, sustaining opportunities with the ball, all of those things. That’s a real positive for us."

The Seahawks will look to break their losing streak with a win over the Niners. That task will be made even harder as Seattle will be without Smith, meaning his backup, Drew Lock, will be under center.
