Seattle Seahawks vs. San Francisco 49ers Week 14: How to Watch, Betting Odds

The Seattle Seahawks remain on the road in Week 14 with a matchup against the NFC West-leading San Francisco 49ers.

The San Francisco 49ers beat the Philadelphia Eagles last week in convincing fashion, 42-19. That was a highly anticipated matchup between two of the top powerhouses in the NFC.

The Seahawks are 6-6 and are anything but a powerhouse, but that doesn't mean they're not dangerous. The 49ers should guard against a letdown game against a division rival who is fighting for its playoff life.

San Francisco can clinch a playoff berth with a win combined with a Minnesota or Green Bay loss.

San Francisco 49ers linebacker Fred Warner (54) tackles Seattle Seahawks running back Kenneth Walker III (9) as offensive tackle Abraham Lucas (72) blocks during the second quarter at Lumen Field.

“When you’re a really good team, these are the types of weeks where you have to not fall into the trap of feeling good about yourself and come out and take it to another notch," 49ers defensive end Nick Bosa said. "If we can do that, then we’re exactly where we need to be.”

Last time San Francisco beat a powerhouse - a 42-10 drubbing of the Cowboys in Week 5 - they suffered a three-game losing streak immediately following. And it's looking to avoid the same consequences after the win over Philly.

“I think it’s just understood, honestly,” linebacker Fred Warner said. “I think it’s pretty simple, you either learn from your past mistakes or you’re going to let history repeat itself."

Seattle should have a sense of urgency after falling out of playoff contention during its three-game losing streak.

“I think physically, having some time off, we played a lot of games in a short time,” linebacker Bobby Wagner said. "Being able to have that rest is definitely going to help. Mentally, just stepping away for a moment, kind of reset and find a way to get back in the W column.”

This will be the fourth meeting between the two teams in less than a calendar year, with the 49ers winning each one. San Francisco has won four in a row in the series after losing eight of the first 10 under Kyle Shanahan.

“They have the same benefit that we have," Seahawks coach Pete Carroll said. “Nobody has an edge. We have a great deal of information already logged. Both teams are competing to figure out how to use that right.”

After popping up on the injury report with a new groin issue on Thursday, the Seattle Seahawks have listed quarterback Geno Smith as questionable to play against the San Francisco 49ers in Sunday's road rematch.

Already preparing for the worst-case scenario, Seattle signed veteran signal-caller Sean Mannion to the practice squad on Friday morning, reuniting him with offensive coordinator Shane Waldron. The former Oregon State standout spent time with the team during the 2022 season and would serve as a backup behind Drew Lock in the event Smith can't play this weekend.
