In this story:

And the money just keeps on rolling in for Russell Wilson.

Or, examined from another angle, the expenses keep on rolling out for the Denver Broncos.

March was a big-money month for Wilson, the former Seattle Seahawks quarterback who a year ago engineered his way to a trade from Seattle to Denver, with a gigantic contract extension as part of the transaction.

How big was the entire deal? Wilson is now entering the second year of his five-year, $245 million contract extension.

And what about that March bonus? Built into the Wilson deal was an option bonus for the 2023 season which had to be exercised in that month ...

And it was.

So the quarterback on March 31 glanced at his bank account and surely noticed a fresh deposit of $12 million, as ESPN was first to report.

Wilson, 34, is scheduled to count $22 million on Denver's salary cap this year, which doesn't look too painful overall as the nine-time Pro Bowler and Super Bowl champion tries to fix all of the things that are broken in his game. While Seattle continues to reap the benefits of the trade, including ownership of the No. 5 overall pick in this NFL Draft, Wilson is coming off an awful first year with the Broncos in which he set career-lows in completion percentage (60.5) and touchdown passes (16).

He also dealt with injuries as the Broncos dropped into the AFC basement, leading to the hiring of new coach Sean Payton. ... who is in charge of "fixing'' Russ while the QB - who last year dealt with a concussion, plus shoulder and hamstring ailments - also works to get healthy.

Wilson underwent a scope on his right knee this offseason but is expected to be ready for OTAs.

"Injury-wise, I will keep you posted," Payton said.

And finance-wise? The bank will surely keep Wilson posted.
