Seattle Seahawks Offense 'Didn't Play to Our Standard!' vs. Arizona Cardinals Says Geno Smith

In this story:
The Seattle Seahawks moved to 4-2 on the year after a 20-10 win over the Arizona Cardinals at Lumen Field on Sunday, but quarterback Geno Smith isn't exactly happy.
While the win helped Seattle keep pace with the San Francisco 49ers, Smith again didn't have his best game. He completed 18 of 24 passes for 219 yards, two touchdowns, and an interception.
The Seahawks also converted 7 of 13 third-down attempts and were 1 of 3 in the red zone as things were again a bit clunky for Shane Waldron's offense.
For Smith, the offense didn't live up to the standard they had set for themselves.
"If I'm being honest, I don't think we played up to our standard," Smith said. "Personally, I feel like we left a lot out there. It's the league. Any win you get you're going to be happy with, right? A win is a win. But it's kind of this weird feeling that I got, specifically, that feeling like I haven't done enough, haven't played my best game. But still we're winning, and we're getting the job done. But a lot left out there, I feel like. So I'm excited to get to work tomorrow so we can fix those things, clean up the mistakes that I've been making, and try to play a complete, clean game. "
Smith is right. A win is a win, and the Seahawks can take some comfort in that - especially when it was done without their best receiver in DK Metcalf.
But Smith has had turnovers creep into his game of late and against the Cardinals, an interception and a fumbled snap, which the Arizona defense recovered, took his tally to three interceptions and a fumble in his last two games, as the Seahawks' offense has stalled due to mistakes.
For head coach Pete Carroll, Smith's mistakes have been a talking point.
"Yeah, and it's something we've been talking about," Carroll said. "He took a shot (on the INT), trying to squeeze one in there, and he's sick about it. He should have just eaten the football or run with the football right there. That's what the options are. And he tried to squeeze one in. We went quick on the snap (fumble), and we didn't handle it right."
Going forward, there is a bit to clean up for the Seahawks, but given their up-and-down offense has five turnovers in the last two games, they are still 4-2 with plenty to improve on.
If those issues can get fixed, then the Seahawks could be up to their eyeballs in the NFC race. But until then, the self-inflicted wounds will continue to hinder Seattle in their bid to make it back to the postseason.
