The future that the Seattle Seahawks see in running back Kenneth Walker III continues to become more crystal clear.

After Rashaad Penny - who began the 2022 campaign as the team's starting running back before suffering a season-ending injury - agreed to terms with the Philadelphia Eagles on Tuesday, fellow running back Travis Homer found a new team as well, as he's sign with the Chicago Bears, per reports from ESPN's Adam Schefter.

The two-year deal is worth a maximum of $4.5 million, and comes right on the heels of Bears running back David Montgomery leaving Chicago to sign with the Detroit Lions. Even on an run-heavy offense that features dual-threat quarterback Justin Fields as a primary rushing option, Homer now has some newfound opportunity as a backup behind Khalil Herbert.

Homer, a sixth-round pick by the Seahawks in 2019, now sees his four-year career in Seattle come to an end. A steady contributor on special teams that had some productive offensive spurts, Homer appeared in 49 games with the Seahawks, totaling 83 carries for 453 yards and one touchdown along with 52 catches on 61 targets for 464 yards and two scores.

Homer also returned one kickoff for a touchdown, which came in a 31-7 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars in the 2021 season.

The Seahawks seemed unlikely to retain either Homer or Penny considering Walker III's breakout as a rookie this past season. But considering the offenses that both Homer and Penny are entering into, it seems as if everything worked out for all parties involved.
