'Washed Up?' Russell Wilson Defended by Frank Clark as Ex Seahawks Lead Broncos

In this story:
Russell Wilson and Frank Clark, a pair of former Seattle Seahawks, are going to get things turned around this year with the Denver Broncos, says none other than Frank Clark himself.
“You can say what you want about their record and stuff like that but if you know football, if you understand it like (Wilson and I) do, that's the type of team that can turn it around in a heartbeat,” Clark said of the Broncos. “I've seen it and I know it. They just need to add a few pieces to get the job done and I feel like they're doing the right thing adding me.”
Speaking to Josina Anderson, Clark said that the Broncos are on the verge of turning things around as he makes his move from the Kansas City Chiefs and their Super Bowl winner to switch sides in the AFC West rivalry. And in fairness to Clark, he isn't just supporting the idea of Wilson's greatness because the ink is still wet on his contract; he said some of the same things about the former Seahawks QB back during Super Bowl Week.
"The toughest thing watching that is knowing how good Russell is. Knowing his leadership skills. Knowing what Russ can bring to the table," Clark said back in February. "Going from being the best to hearing people say, 'Yeah, he's washed up.' How? How is he washed up? How soon can you forget about what a man has done in this league, last year, [or] the year before?''
Of course, Wilson was infamously bad last year in Denver following the blockbuster trade from the Seahawks. But Clark believes he can be part of the revival of the Broncos after a hugely disappointing season. Clark said that new head coach Sean Payton's resumé speaks for itself and that the group is looking to help build “a winning tradition” in Denver.
Clark started his career in Seattle before being traded in another blockbuster that landed him with the Chiefs. Just as he has said he enjoyed his time with the Seahawks, he is now making it clear that he has the same feelings for Kansas City.
“The Chiefs, that’s a first-class organization,” said Clark, who is now teaming up again with Wilson as they work toward being able to say the same thing about the Broncos.
