Steelers Have Three Remaining Needs in Free Agency

The Pittsburgh Steelers have three players left to sign.

PITTSBURGH -- To this point, the Pittsburgh Steelers have bulked up their defense with a starting inside linebacker and safety, landed a cornerback through a trade, and signed - potentially - a new starting quarterback.

One would say free agency has been a success for this team so far. But they aren't done yet.

Entering the end of the opening week and heading into the second, the Steelers have three remaining needs they must fill at some point this offseason. All three could come through the NFL Draft, but more likely than not, with around $15 million in available space, they aren't done signing veterans.

So, who's next?

The Steelers will likely choose between a top wide receiver, offensive lineman and defensive tackle. They have re-signed Montravius Adams, but with Armon Watts leaving for New England, they need more depth. Adams is a quality nose tackle with plenty of starting experience, but Pittsburgh needs more options behind - or in front of - Larry Ogunjobi and Cam Heyward.

When it comes to wide receiver, they're currently in talks with Tyler Boyd. The hometown veteran has made it known this offseason he would be open to joining the Steelers, but in a race against the Kansas City Chiefs, Pittsburgh may have to pull out one of their magic tricks to bring in the former Bengal.

If not, a name like Corey Davis, who played with Arthur Smith in Tennessee, may be their next option.

Then there's the offensive line, aka center. The Steelers missed the first wave of veteran signings but remain a team to watch when it comes to the last two remaining big names. Brian Allen and Connor Williams are both coming off season-ending injuries but could fit what Pittsburgh is looking for in a Mason Cole replacement.

Don't rule out a top draft pick like Jackson Powers-Johnson or Zach Frazier, but don't be surprised if the Steelers sign a veteran before the draft.

This team isn't done making moves, and maybe some splash moves. With plenty of top tier two and tier three free agents still on the board, the Steelers are searching - and you can expect more signings to come before they close out free agency.
