Alex Highsmith Vouches for Steelers to Sign Bud Dupree

In this story:
PITTSBURGH -- The Pittsburgh Steelers are being linked to a number of free agents, but none more than outside linebacker Bud Dupree.
The Tennessee Titans cut Dupree after just two seasons and seven recorded sacks. He'll now enter free agency for the second time in his career, this time likely looking for a redemption deal to get his career back on track.
Enter the Steelers.
Pittsburgh has searched high and low for a third edge rusher since Dupree's departure. So far, the closest they've gotten is Melvin Ingram, who left mid-season after wanting a trade. This spring, the Steelers have an opportunity to bring back a familiar face and solidify that three-man rotation, which current outside linebacker Alex Highsmith is all in for.
During an appearance on House of Yinzer Podcast, Highsmith said he'd more than welcome Dupree back into the Steelers defense this season.
"If it were to happen, that would definitely be a three-headed monster, for sure," Highsmith said. "When he was here, my locker was actually right next to his, so that was pretty cool. Him and T.J., both of them were just very helpful in bringing me up my rookie year and just helping me to get better."
Highsmith played the backup role during his rookie season and Dupree's final year on the team. Roles would reverse this year if Dupree returned, but Highsmith said he believes the three, he, Dupree and T.J. Watt, would mix well no matter what roles they had.
"Even when he went down my rookie year with his injury, he was still encouraging me and telling me things in meetings and stuff like that," Highsmith said.
Dupree signed a five-year, $82.5 million deal with the Titans in 2021. Chances are he'll receive a new deal under $10 million per season this time around.
