In this story:

PITTSBURGH -- The Pittsburgh Steelers aren't sitting in the top 10 of the NFL Draft, but at 17, there's a growing belief they could have an opportunity at a sliding name like Jalen Carter.

But then, Carter made it known he's a top-10 pick. At least he believes so. And because of that, his agent Drew Rosenhaus has let teams outside of those ten picks know that Carter will not be accepting pre-draft visits with them.

CBS NFL Draft analyst Ryan Wilson believes that notion doesn't apply to the Steelers. During an appearance on 93.7 The Fan, Wilson said if Pittsburgh called - top 10 pick or not - Carter is coming.

"In terms of Jalen Carter," Wilson said. “It is sort of funny. I saw the headline and I laughed. The reality is that we are at the part of the draft process where you can’t really take anything seriously. His agent Drew Rosenhaus has relationships with all these teams, so it is not going to be a circumstance where he doesn’t go visit. If you are telling me that Mike Tomlin says we are going to trade up to 15 to get Jalen Carter, we want to talk to him. There is going to be a hard no on that?"

Falling to 17 might not be realistic for Carter, but Steelers general manager Omar Khan did say the team will be open to moving up in the draft if the right opportunity presents itself.

If Carter slides outside of the top 10, that feels like the opportunity they're waiting for.

"He is number one," Wilson said on Carter's play. "Look, last year Georgia had five guys go in the first round on defense. He was the best player on that team a year ago. The issue is can he do it play in and play out? Will he do it play in and play out? When you go back and watch you just have to laugh at how he is manhandling guys against kids that are getting drafted first, second, third round."

Pittsburgh currently doesn't have a pre-draft visit set with Carter, but has done some homework on defensive linemen like Keanu Benton, Gervon Dexter and Siaki Ika.

It's a draft day scenario, but with Mike Tomlin and the Steelers reputation within the NFL, if they believed there was a chance they could go get him and wanted to do homework first, chances are he's not saying no to the visit.
