In this story:

PITTSBURGH -- Pittsburgh Steelers tackle Dan Moore has some extra cash coming his way this offseason in the form of "performance-based pay" from the NFL, a round of additional compensation tied to snaps played and the player's current salary - including incentives and prorated portions of their signing bonus - according to a release from the NFL Players Association.

Moore was the only Steeler to rank in the top-25 of this year's performance-based pay earners at $740,319. This money does not count against Pittsburgh's salary cap number.

Last year, Kevin Dotson was on the list as well. Moore played the lowest number of snaps in his career during the 2023-24 season, but still was on the field for 95% of the Steeler's offensive snaps. He played 100% of them the season prior and 99% of them the year before that.

Ravens guard John Simpson was the top performance-based pay earner of the year, taking in an extra $974,613.

Moore is currently on the inside track to maintain his role as the Steelers' starting left tackle heading into next fall but that is all dependent upon how the front office handles the rest of free agency and the NFL Draft. There are plenty of rookies available to be picked up that could challenge Moore for his spot.
