The Pittsburgh Steelers made a series of roster moves before they take on the Buffalo Bills later this week for their preseason finale at Highmark Stadium.

In addition to activating cornerback Jalen Ramsey from the PUP list, the Steelers announced that they signed cornerback Jaylon Guilbeau and running back Alex Tecza. They had an additional open roster spot after releasing kicker Laith Marjan on August 23.

Furthermore, Pittsburgh also cut defensive back Israel Mukuamu. He signed with the team on August 5 and appeared in their preseason opener against the Green Bay Packers, a game in which the former sixth-round pick posted a sack.

Steelers Shaking Up DB Room

Ramsey's return is huge news for the Steelers, as he's set to serve as their primary slot corner while also likely seeing time at safety in new defensive coordinator Patrick Graham's system.

Mukuamu had spent the first four years of his NFL career playing under Mike McCarthy with the Dallas Cowboys from 2021 to 2024 before joining the Carolina Panthers for the 2025 campaign.

He reunited with McCarthy in Pittsburgh a few weeks ago, though he suffered an apparent injury during one of the team's final practices at Saint Vincent College in Latrobe on August 15 and hadn't participated since.

Guilbeau has stepped in and taken Mukuamu's spot on the roster for the time being after being one of three cornerbacks to try out for the Steelers on August 23 alongside Dee Williams and Eli Ricks.

In 43 games at Texas from 2022 to 2025, Guilbeau logged 125 total tackles and an interception. He signed with the Panthers as an undrafted free agent in May before being let go on July 22.

Tecza Reunites with Steelers and Eli Heidenreich

Tecza was teammates with fellow Steelers rookie Eli Heidenreich both in high school at Mt. Lebanon and in college at Navy.

The pair also participated in Pittsburgh's rookie minicamp together back in May, though Tecza was there on a tryout basis.

While Tecza didn't sign with the Steelers immediately following rookie minicamp, he's now back with Heidenreich and his hometown team ahead of their upcoming bout with the Bills to close out the preseason.

Over 38 contests for Navy, Tecza recorded 2,236 and 23 touchdowns on 409 rushing attempts to go with 451 yards and three touchdowns on 41 receptions.
