MAR 11 QUEEN A TEXANS CONTENDER?
With Blake Cashman off to the Minnesota Vikings, the Houston Texans turn their attention to other linebackers on the market. According to reports, Houston remains in contact with former Baltimore Ravens star Patick Queen, though everything will come down to pricing.
Queen, a former teammate of Texans cornerback Derek Stingley Jr. at LSU, is coming off a career season where he totaled 133 tackles and two sacks. He wants to be properly compensated for his efforts. A so Seattle Seahawks remain a front-runner following the hiring of former Ravens defensive coordinator Mike Macdonald.
MAR 11 HUFF HEADS TO PHILLY Former New York Jets defensive end and potential Houston Texans target Bryce Huff has agreed to terms on a three-year, $51.5 million deal with the Philadelphia Eagles, according to reports.
Huff, 25, is the highest-paid non-QB undrafted free agent in NFL history. After signing with New York out of Memphis in 2020, Huff would go on to total 17.5 sacks in four seasons.
Last year, Huff totaled a career-high 10 sacks and 19.5 tackles for loss with the Jets. Philadelphia is expected to part ways with both outside linebacker Haason Reddick and defensive end Josh Sweat before the start of the regular season.
Sweat, who signed a three-year, $40 million extension in 2021, could be a target for the Texans given his role in a 4-3 defensive front. Last season, he totaled 6.5 sacks, seven tackles for loss and 23 QB hits.
MAR 11 DAVIS TO DUVALL Former Buffalo Bills receiver and potential Texans target Gabe Davis has agreed to terms on a three-year deal with Jacksonville Jaguars, according to reports.
Davis, a former fourth-round pick from Central Florida, was a consistent No. 2 option opposite Stefon Diggs in the AFC East. In four seasons, the 6-2, 220-pounder caught 163 passes for 2,730 yards and 27 touchdowns.
The Texans are expected to be in the market for a No. 3 receiver opposite Nico Collins and Tank Dell. Early options include Commanders' Curtis Samuel, Bengals' Tyler Boyd, Chicago's Darnell Mooney, and Carolina's D.J. Chark.
MAR 9 JEUDY TO BROWNS Former Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson is getting another weapon in his Cleveland Browns arsenal.
On Saturday morning the Denver Broncos traded receiver Jerry Jeudy to Cleveland in exchange for a fifth and a sixth-round pick. The trade not only gives the Browns one of the most electric receivers in the game but also arguably the most talented receiving corps in the AFC.
And it seems Watson could not be happier, tweeting out his excited me in a reaction to the trade on X.
Since being traded to the Browns from Houston, Watson has largely struggled despite having plenty of weapons at his disposal, completing 59.8 percent of his passes for 2,217 yards and 14 touchdowns with nine interceptions in 12 games.
Now, with Jeudy, Elijah Moore, Amari Cooper, Marquise Goodwin, Cedric Tillman, James Proche and tight end David Njoku, Watson has no shortage of playmakers at his disposal.
MAR 1 STROUD NAMES NBA STARTING FIVE Texans' quarterback C.J. Stroud has always displayed his love for basketball. He grew up a fan of the Los Angeles Lakers, with his all-time favorite player being Kobe Bryant.
Ahead of the 2024 Celebrity All-Star game in Indianapolis, Stroud shared his all-time NBA starting five with podcaster and social media personality Sloane Weinstein. In addition to Bryant, Stroud's all-time starting five include Stephen Curry, Kevin Durant, Dirk Nowitzki and Shaquille O'Neal.
Interestingly, Stroud elected to leave off two names that most NBA fans would consider the two best to ever play the game - Michael Jordan and LeBron James.
Stroud put on a show during the Celebrity All-Star game, finishing with 30 points amid Team Stephen A's 100-91 loss to Team Shannon Sharpe.
FEB 23 CAP RISING According to a release from the NFL, the league salary cap is set to see an unprecedented increase for the 2024 season. The change will increase the cap to $255.4 million and give teams $30 million more this offseason.
“The unprecedented $30 million increase per club in this year’s salary cap is the result of the full repayment of all amounts advanced by the clubs and deferred by the players during the Covid pandemic, as well as an extraordinary increase in media revenue for the 2024 season,” the NFL said in the statement.
As a result of the increase, the Texans will have approximately $67 million in total cap space and around $64 million in effective cap space.
In other words, the Texans will have more flexibility to bring back an impact player they otherwise could have lost like Jonathan Greenard, or sign an impact free agent like Brian Burns or Chase Young.
FEB 21 PETERSON DEBUNKS On Wednesday, various reports surfaced on social media indicating that former star NFL running back Adrian Peterson was selling off memorabilia and trophies he earned during his time in the league during an estate sale in Houston.
However, according to a statement from Peterson, these rumors are false, with the running back stating that these items were listed without his consent, and he had no intention of selling any of his hard-earned accolades.
"I want to clarify recent rumors and media reports. An estate sale company without my authorization included some of my trophies in a sale, despite clear instructions to leave personal items untouched. I did not authorize the sale of any of my trophies, and I will be taking legal action," Peterson said in the statement. "I want to emphasize that I am financially stable, and would never sell off my hard-earned trophies.

FEB 19 FERENTZ RETIRES Former Houston Texans center James Ferentz announced his retirement on Monday, posting a statement to his Instagram account.
Ferentz was an undrafted free agent who signed with Houston in 2014 before being waived at the beginning of the 2015 season. He would spend the remainder of 2015 and 2016 with the Denver Broncos before a seven-year stint with the New England Patriots.
"Thank you to all my teammates, from Iowa City High, Iowa, Houston, Denver, and New England," he wrote. "The bond and love is truly what football is about and why we all play. My teammates at every stop prove that theory true. Thank you all!"
Ferentz is a two-time Super Bowl champion, winning a ring with the Broncos and Patriots. He started 10 games during his career.
JAN 20 NELSON OUT? The Houston Texans may be without one of their top defensive players for the remainder of their Divisional Round matchup vs. the Baltimore Ravens at M&T Bank Stadium.
When trying to make a tackle on a Justice Hill run late in the third quarter, corner Steven Nelson took a hard hit to his head, and was slow to get up.
After staying down for a few moments, Nelson was able to get up and walk off of the field under his own power.
Nelson was then taken to the sideline before being heading back to the locker room to be evaluated for a concussion.
The veteran corner has been a major part of the Texans defense so far this season, making one of the team's two pick-six touchdowns vs. the Browns last week.
We will update Nelson's status when more information becomes available.
JAN 17 NEW PASS CATCHERS The Houston Texans were forced to send wideout Noah Brown to injured reserve after the veteran suffered a shoulder injury during the first quarter of Houston's 45-14 wild-card round victory over the Cleveland Browns Saturday at NRG Stadium.
Following the loss of Brown, the Texans have signed multiple receivers, beginning with moving Steven Sims from the practice squad to the active roster, according to reports.
Sims has played in three games this season for Houston, making three catches for 25 yards on three targets. Sims has played in 44 games in his career, racking up 704 yards and five touchdowns on 78 catches.
The Texans also signed wideout Damiere Byrd to the practice squad.
Byrd has played in 76 games over the last eight seasons, making 130 catches on 206 targets for 1,689 yards and seven touchdowns.
JAN 6 TAYLOR INJURED The Houston Texans were on the ropes in Indianapolis thanks to the Colts running game, led by star back Jonathan Taylor.
Unfortunately for Houston, a tough year continued on Saturday for Taylor, who was first to exit the game late in the third quarter with a heel injury.
He is currently questionable to return.
At the time of the injury, the Colts had rushed for over 200 yards as a team, with 21 carries, 165 yards and a touchdown of that coming from Taylor alone.
The Colts were able to hit a field goal at the end of their last drive without Taylor in the lineup, tying the game at 17.
DEC 31 BIG MAN TD The Houston Texans are off to a roaring start against the Tennessee Titans on Sunday.
Already up by two scores in the first quarter after a C.J. Stroud touchdown pass, Houston made it three scores early in the second quarter, with Jerry Hughes strip-sacking Titans QB Will Levis, and Sheldon Rankins scoping it for a touchdown.
The touchdown is the first of Rankins' career and the first defensive score of the season for the Texans.
DEC 17 TUNSIL DOWN? Texas left tackle Laremy Tunsil has been forced to exit the team's critical AFC South matchup vs. the Titans on Sunday with an apparent lower-body injury.
Tunsil has been fighting through knee issues all season long and was been forced to miss three games earlier in the season.
Tunsil has been replaced in the lineup by Josh Jones and is currently questionable to return.
DEC 16 KEENUM STARTING According to reports from KPRC, the Houston Texans are set to start Case Keenum at quarterback in place of the injured C.J. Stroud.
This comes as a surprise to many, who assumed that DeMeco Ryans would go with former starter Davis Mills, who was the team’s No. 1 QB before the arrival of Stroud.
Per the report, Keenum’s experience is what made the difference entering such a big game for the Texans playoff hopes.
DEC 13 OILERS VS TEXANS The Tennessee Titans are set to face off vs. the Texans on Sunday in Nashville, and they plan on wearing some uniforms that Houston sports fans will not appreciate.
When the Texans head to Nashville, the Titans will be donning Houston Oilers throwback uniforms.
The Titans, of course, began their franchise as the Houston Oilers in the American Football League in 1960, before moving to the NFL in 1970.
The Oilers then moved to Nashville in 1997, where they kept their name for two seasons before re-branding as the Titans in 1999.
The Houston Texans then came to the NFL in 2002, with many fans clamoring for the franchise to re-take the Oilers as their mascot. Due to the Adams family owning the rights to that name, however, it was not possible.
Now, the Titans will ostensibly be flaunting that logo in the face of Texans fans everywhere on Sunday afternoon.
DEC 12 VERRETT RETURNS TO SAN FRANCISCO Former Houston Texans cornerback Jason Verrett is onto a new team, or more accurately, returning to an old team as he signed with the San Francisco 49ers' practice squad on Monday.
Verrett, 32, signed with Texans' practice squad in mid-October, but never appeared in a game before his release a month later.
The No. 25 pick by the then-San Diego Chargers in 2014, Verrett's career has been plagued by a multitude of injuries. Now in his 10th season between the Chargers, 49ers and Texans, he has only played more than 10 games twice.
DEC 10 FINALLY IN THE END ZONE The Houston Texans were held scoreless for three quarters on Sunday against the New York Jets, but they finally found the end zone on an untimed down at the end of the third quarter from a yard out.
A pass interference call in the end zone at the end of the frame put the ball at the one for the Texans, and they gave the ball to running back Devin Singletary who plowed his way to pay dirt, giving Houston its first points of the day, although the extra point was no-good. DEC 5 TEXANS SIGN EX-JET ADRIAN AMOS The Houston Texans will face the New York Jets in MetLife Stadium on Sunday. They'll get a leg up with Tuesday's signing of safety Adrian Amos.
According to Jordan Schultz, Houston signed Amos ahead of their Week 14 game against the struggling Jets. Amos was recently cut by New York and thus did not appear in Week 13's 13-8 loss to the Atlanta Falcons.
Amos had performed well, making his release a surprising one. He has 19 solo tackles on the year and an admirable 72.7 defense grade from Pro Football Focus.
Expect Amos to provide the Texans with depth and safety and help them prepare for the Jets' strong defense that ranks third in passing yards allowed per game (176.6).
DEC 3 NICO IN THE END ZONE Nico Collins has had a monster game on Sunday, and he has now found the end zone for the first time on a pass from C.J. Stroud.
Collins broke the century mark in receiving before halftime, but he adjusted his route on this play and got open for a scrambling C.J. Stroud in the end zone. This score put Houston up 22-10 after a failed two-point conversion, and you can view the play below.
NOV 26 GOAL LINE STOP The Houston Texans looked to be in serious trouble in the first half vs. the Jacksonville Jaguars, with the Jags threatening to go up by two scores after a huge completion to Christan Kirk from QB Trevor Lawrence.
And with one second remaining on the clock in the first half, Jaguars coach Doug Peterson elected to go for a touchdown over a field goal from the one-yard line.
That decision would ultimately go in the Texans' favor, however, with the Houston defense standing tall for an impressive goal-line stand as time expired.
It was a risky move from Peterson, not only risking a two-score lead but giving the Texans some serious momentum heading into the locker room at halftime.
NOV 19 STROUD TO SCHULTZ Trailing the Arizona Cardinals early on, Houston Texans rookie QB sensation C.J. Stroud has risen to the occasion yet again.
With just under six minutes to go in the first quarter, and his team trailing 7-0, Stroud led a five-play, 61-yard touchdown drive that culminated in a 20-yard sliding touchdown strike to tight end Dalton Schultz.
The score was Schultz's fifth touchdown catch of the season and Stroud's 16th touchdown pass.
Through the first 10 minutes of action, Stroud, who led the NFL in passing yards coming into the game, has completed 6 of 10 passes for 89 yards.
NOV 15 JASON VERRETT RELEASED The Houston Texans announced Wednesday they've released cornerback Jason Verrett from the practice squad.
Verrett originally joined the NFL in 2014 with the Los Angeles Chargers (then in San Diego) and played four seasons for the franchise earning a Pro Bowl selection in 2015.
He eventually landed with the San Francisco 49ers in 2019 and was there through the 2022 NFL season where he worked with current Texans coach DeMeco Ryans.
NOV 12 TEXANS SCREWED? Are the Texans getting "screwed'' by a bad call by the referees on a non-call "dorty hit'' on rookie QB sensation C.J. Stroud in today's game against the Bengals?
That is certainly the view of some ... and you can judge for yourself ...
No "conspiracy theories'' here, but ... as the Texans cling to a change to pull off the upset against Cincy ... yes, they could've used a different call here.
NOV 9 NO TEE? According to reports, one of the Cincinnati Bengals top wideouts - Tee Higgins - will miss Thursday's practice ahead of the team's matchup with the Houston Texans on Sunday.
Higgins appeared on the Bengals injury report Wednesday with a hamstring issue and was limited.
Star Bengals wideout Ja'Marr Chase missed Wednesday's practice dealing with a back issue but was dressed out for practice Thursday morning.
Chase will be closely monitored throughout the week.
Should both receivers be forced to miss Sunday's matchup, the Bengals would likely have to call up a player from the practice squad, while Joe Burrow would look to Tyler Boyd as the No. 1 option.
NOV 8 NO JA'MARR? Cincinnati Bengals star wide receiver Ja'Marr Chase could be in danger of missing the team's matchup with the Houston Texans on Sunday.
Per reports from ESPN's Adam Schefter, the Bengals top pass catcher missed practice on Wednesday due to a back injury.
Chase first suffered the injury in the team's win over the Buffalo Bills on Sunday.
Per Bengals coach Zac Taylor, Chase's status will be monitored throughout the week.
NOV 5 C.J. TO NICO After trailing 3-0 early, the Texans have stuck back in their Sunday battle with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
With just over nine minutes to go in the first quarter, C.J. Stroud hitting wideout Nico Collins on a 14-yard touchdown pass, putting Houston up 7-3.
The chemistry between Collins and Stroud has been there since the beginning of the season, with Collins leading the team with 577 yards and three touchdowns on 33 catches.
NOV 1 INCREDIBLE WATTS Houston Texans legend J.J. Watt and his family quite literally had 'incredible' Halloween Costumes on Tuesday night.
The Watts shared their costumes on social media, with the trio dressed as the incredible family from the hit Disney Pixar movie. And now they are going viral.
"Live action remake coming to theaters October 2027," Watt said.
Watt, of course, dressed as Mr. Incredible, while his wife Kealia dressed as Mrs. Incredible.
Their son Koa was dressed as Jack Jack - the youngest of the Incredibles family.
OCT 29 LUV YA, BYE The Houston Cougars have been sent a cease-and-desist letter from the NFL, ordering the Big 12 conference member to stop wearing their alternate light blue uniforms, according to a report from The Houston Chronicle.
The light blue, red and white jerseys, which were seemed to be inspired by the classic 'Luv Ya Blue' Houston Oilers uniforms, debuted this season in the Cougars season opener against the UTSA Road Runners
“The Houston Cougars’ attempt to free ride on the popularity of the NFL and the club violates the intellectual property rights of the NFL and the (Tennessee) Titans,” attorney Bonnie L. Jarrett said in the letter.
The Titans wore a version of the Oiler's throwback uniforms this past Sunday against the Atlanta Falcons.
OCT 22 OILERS THROWBACKS The Tennessee Titans are set to don a piece of Houston history this Sunday against the Atlanta Falcons.
In their interconference matchup, the Titans will wear Oilers throwback uniforms in Nashville.
The Titans of course began life as a franchise as the Houston Oilers in 1960, before moving to Nashville in 1996.
The franchise then spent two seasons as the Tennessee Oilers in 1997 and 1998, before undergoing a complete rebrand as the Tennessee Titans in 1999.
Football was then brought back to Houston in 2022 with the Texans, who have won six AFC South division titles since 2011 - two more than the Titans have won in 21 years.
OCT 19 INTERNATIONAL FLAGS You'll see some changes to some NFL helmets around the league for Weeks 7 and 8. Hundreds of players will add flag decals to their helmets representing the countries of their heritage.
The league has announced more than 330 players have committed to participate, representing 72 nations, with Nigeria being the most-represented foreign country, with 80 players committing to wear the Nigerian flag.
OCT 8 C.J. HEROICS The Houston Texans nearly pulled of a major win vs. the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday after some late heroics from starting quarterback, C.J. Stroud.
With just over a minute to play in regulation, Stroud hit tight end Dalton Schultz for the 18-yard go-ahead score, to give the Texans a 19-18 lead.
Unfortunately for Stroud and the Texans, the late score was not enough to put Houston over the top, as Falcons QB Desmond Ridder led his team right back down the field for the game-winning field goal by Yunghoe Koo, making the final score 21-19 in favor of Atlanta.
With the loss, the Texans have now dropped to 2-3 overall.
OCT 7 JONATHAN TAYLOR AGREES TO EXTENSION The Indianapolis Colts and All-Pro running back Jonathan Taylor agreed to a massive three-year extension Saturday morning. The deal is worth $42.0 million with $26.5M guaranteed. ESPN's Adam Schefter was the first to report.
The extension ends the ongoing drama between the Colts and Taylor, whom Indianapolis granted permission to seek a trade during the off-season. Taylor will make his season debut during the Colts' Week 5 match against the Tennessee Titans. He missed the first four games due to a back injury.
Since entering the league in 2020, Taylor has established himself as one of the top players at his position. In 43 career games, Taylor has rushed for 3,841 yards and 33 touchdowns.
OCT 1 STROUD TO COLLINS TD The Houston Texans are already off to a hot start vs. the Pittsburgh Steelers.
On their opening offensive possession on Sunday, rookie QB C.J. Stroud led the Texans down the field on a 12-play 69-yard touchdown drive, hitting wideout Nico Collins in the end zone for the score.
The Texans also had some major contributions on the drive from running back Dameon Pierce, who totaled 46 yards from scrimmage on the ground and through the air.
SEPT 30 REMEMBERING BUM Late former Houston Oilers coach Bum Phillips is one of the most legendary figures in the History of Houston sports, leading the team for six seasons from 1975 to 1980.
Phillips passed away at the age of 90 in 2013, and Friday marked what would have been Phillips' 100th birthday.
During his time in Houston Phillips went 55-35, finishing second in the AFC Central division in each of his final three seasons. In 1978 and 1979, Phillips led the Oilers to the AFC Championship Game, falling to the Pittsburgh Steelers in each appearance.
After leaving Houston, Phillips led the New Orleans Saints for five more seasons, before resigning and retiring from the NFL.
SEPT 28 HILL TO TEXANS? The Texans need help along the defensive line - so much help that they are exploring the idea of signing former Dallas Cowboys bust Trysten Hill, an NFL source tells TexansDaily.com.
The Texans worked out Hill on Thursday with the hope that he might recapture whatever it was Dallas saw in his when they make him a second-round draft pick in 2019. Hill, 25, is 6-3 and 300 and has bounced around on various practice squads in recent years.
SEPT 28 STROUD EARNS HONORS The Houston Texans have been very pleased with the play of their rookie quarterback, C.J. Stroud.
And now the rest of the NFL is beginning to take notice, with Stroud taking home AFC Offensive Rookie of the Month honors after a stellar September.
In his first three NFL games, Stroud leads all rookies in completion percentage (64.5 percent), passing yards (906), and touchdowns (four) and has zero interceptions.
He also holds a rookie best passer rating of 98.0.
Stroud, who has the Texans sitting at 1-2 after an impressive win over Jacksonville in Week 3, will hope to get the Texans back to .500 when they take on the Pittsburgh Steelers this Sunday.
SEPT 24 ANDERSON MAKES IMPACT Will Anderson Jr. has made a major impact for the Houston Texans defense through his first two games with the team.
On Sunday's Week 3 matchup against the Jacksonville Jaguars, he did it again, with Anderson blocking a Jaguars Field goal.
Following the block, the Texans were able to take advantage with rookie C.J. Stroud hitting tight end Brevin Jordan for a short touchdown pass, putting Houston up 14-0 midway through the second quarter.
SEPT 21 TEXANS EX CHRISTIAN KIRKSEY RETIRES NFL Media's Mike Garafolo reports that former Texans linebacker Christian Kirksey is retiring. Kirksey had been on the practice squad for the Buffalo Bills.
The 31-year-old was a third-round pick by the Cleveland Browns in the 2014 NFL Draft out of Iowa. He would spend the first six seasons of his career with the Browns, before joining the Green Bay Packers in 2020. Kirksey then spent the 2021 and 2022 seasons with the Texans, accumulating 217 combined tackles and seven quarterback hits.
SEPT 18 TAVIERRE THOMAS SUFFERS BROKEN HAND The Texans have lost another player due to injury. According to Aaron Wilson of KPRC, nickel defensive back Tavierre Thomas suffered a broken hand Sunday against the Indianapolis Colts and will undergo surgery.
With Thomas likely out against the Jacksonville Jaguars, the Texans may go to safety Grayland Arnold to help fill the void.
SEPT 17 FAN FIGHT The frustration for Texans fans seemingly boiled over on Sunday afternoon during the team's 31-20 loss to the Indianapolis Colts.
The fight broke out around the third quarter in a concessions area at NRG Stadium while the Texans trailed 31-10.
SEPT 10 PITRE HOSPITALIZED Following their 25-9 season-opening loss to the Baltimore Ravens, the Houston Texans faced a medical scare on Sunday afternoon, when safety Jalen Pitre was sent to a local hospital with a bruised lung, according to reports.
The injury occurred after a collision between Pitre and Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson, with Jackson's knee hitting Pitre's chest.
Pitre is expected to fully recover but could be kept in the hospital overnight for observation.
The second-year Baylor product had two tackles in the game.
SEPT 9 ANDREWS INJURY UPDATE Per Tom Pelissero and Ian Rapoport, Ravens TE Mark Andrews, who has dealt with a quad injury for the last few weeks and is listed as questionable, is not likely to play against the Texans.
The Ravens have revamped their entire receiving corps, and should be less reliant on Andrews in the passing game this year, but it'll still be a blow for quarterback Lamar Jackson's passing game.
AUG 24 TEXANS MAKE OL MOVES The Houston Texans made a pair of moves along the offensive line on Thursday, signing guard Keaton Sutherland, and placing Kilian Zierer on injured reserve.
Zeirer, an undrafted free agent out of Auburn, left the team's 28-3 preseason loss to the Dolphins in the second quarter.
Sutherland, who the Texans waived earlier this month, made five different NFL stops in his career before coming to Houston, including two stints with the Cincinnati Bengals.
AUG 21 TAYLOR TRADE COMING? After a tumultuous offseason between the Indianapolis Colts and star running back Jonathan Taylor, it appears that a resolution may soon be on the horizon.
And it is not good news for Colts fans.
According to reports, the Colts have granted Taylor permission to seek a trade out of Indianapolis.
This could be good news for the Texans, however, who are scheduled to face the Colts in Week 2.
in five career games vs. Houston, Taylor has rushed 106 times for 623 yards and seven touchdowns, averaging 124.6 yards per game over that stretch.
In other words, Texans would likely love to see Taylor anywhere but the opposing sideline at any point this season.
AUG 18 TAYLOR TROUBLES The Indianapolis Colts are at a crossroads with star running back Jonathan Taylor.
And according to NFL insider Adam Schefter during an appearance on the Pat McAfee show on Thursday, things seem to be going from bad to worse.
“The situation has regressed. It hasn't moved the right way. It's regressed," Schefter said. "It's everybody's collective fault. It has disintegrated the relationship. The situation has gone backward. In my mind, it's up to both sides to figure out what works. The way it has been this summer doesn't help either side moving forward.”
The Colts and Texans are scheduled to face off in Week 2 of the regular season, but at the rate things are going with his contract negotiations, Taylor's chances of being on the field for that game seem to be dwindling by the day.
AUG 15 TEXANS CLAIM CHEN The Houston have claimed offensive tackle Jackie Chen off of the waiver wire, the team announced Tuesday.
Chen, an undrafted free agent out of Pace University, was signed by the Vikings in May.
However, the Vikings waived Chen on Monday in favor of Chim Okorafor, freeing him up for the Texans to sign on Tuesday.
AUG 13 TEXANS SIGN QB The Texans have agreed to terms with quarterback E.J. Perry, who is already in camp with the team.
Perry -- who played collegiately at Boston College and Brown -- is in his second stint this offseason with the Texans. Most recently, he played for the Michigan Panthers in the USFL.
Unless there's a trade coming, Perry faces an uphill battle to making the Texans roster with C.J. Stroud, Case Keenum and Davis Mills all on the roster already.
AUG 13 WR ADDED The Texans have added depth at wide receiver, signing veteran wide receiver Adam Humphries, 30, who last played with the Washington Commanders in 2021.
That year, he had 41 receptions for 383 yards over 17 games played. The veteran slot receiver in 2018 played with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, where he totaled 76 catches for 816 yards and five touchdowns.
The Texans are still working to figure out a wideout pecking order with Robert Woods, Nico Collins, John Metchie and Tank Dell among those in the mix.
AUG 4 TEXANS EX PUNISHED Charles Omenihu, the former Texans pass-rusher and University of Texas standout, is now with the Kansas City Chiefs … but he won’t be “with” them when the season starts.
Omenihu has been suspended for his team’s first six regular season games of the 2023 season for violating the NFL’s personal conduct policy.
The violation? Omenihu was last year, as a member of the 49ers, involved in a domestic violence case.
He is eligible to participate in all preseason practices and preseason games before the suspension kicks in.
