Texans 'On the Rise' Under DeMeco Ryans Says LT Laremy Tunsil

The Texans have had an impressive offseason, and Laremy Tunsil believes they're speeding up the rebuild.

It is no secret that the Houston Texans have been mired in a rebuild recently, as they sport an 11-38-1 record over the last three seasons.

If you only looked at their record and nothing else it would be easy to come to the conclusion that the Texans are a team without a bright future. Despite that, though, left tackle Laremy Tunsil is excited about what's in store in Houston

“I believe this organization is going to turn it around quickly,” Tunsil said. “This organization is on the rise, especially getting a guy like DeMeco Ryans in this building. He’s a young, energy guy, younger coach, and he was actually a player here too."

"Getting a guy like that coming into the building means a lot. We’re trying to get things turned around.”

Tunsil, who recently signed a three-year extension worth up to $75 million, might not be entirely off-base with this takeThe Texans own two premium picks in the first round of the draft, selecting at No. 2 and No. 12 overall.

They will be adding their two first-round picks to a solid 2022 draft class that featured running back Dameon Pierce, cornerback Derek Stingley Jr. and safety Jalen Pitre - three players that look like they can be franchise cornerstones moving forward.

Should the Texans draft a quarterback at No. 2 overall, which is almost a guarantee at this point but anything can happen, they will lock in another piece of the puzzle. Then, at No. 12 could look to a deep receiver class to add another weapon and potentially draft a Quentin Johnston or Jaxon Smith-Njigba.

Not only will the Texans' new franchise quarterback be protected by Tunsil and have a star running back and potential receiver at No. 12 overall to work with but he will have a safety blanket in free agent addition tight end Dalton Schultz

No, the Texans might not quite be Super Bowl contenders just yet.

However, they have key pieces in place already and are set to add more in the draft - which, as Tunsil said, will only speed up the rebuild in Houston.
