Texans' Will Anderson Jr., C.J. Stroud 'Have Each Other's Backs'

Houston Texans rookie edge rusher Will Anderson Jr. broke down how he and C.J. Stroud have "made sure there's no pressure."

The Houston Texans are one of three teams in league history to select two players within the first three picks of the NFL Draft, doing so by grabbing Ohio State quarterback C.J. Stroud (second overall) and Alabama edge rusher Will Anderson Jr. (third overall) in April.

The two of them are expected to lead the Texans out of their three-year skid at the bottom of the league. While this would create pressure for most 21-22-year-olds, Anderson revealed that he and Stroud "don't really get into all of that."

"I think the most important thing is just having each other's backs," Anderson said during The Rich Eisen Show on Wednesday. "We're just keeping each other level-headed through this process and making sure that there's no pressure. We both just go out there, have fun and make sure that we're doing what we've been doing since we were little kids."

Nevertheless, Anderson said that Stroud's been doing a "really great job" at leading the offense already.

"He's getting good chemistry with the offense, the o-line and they look really great," Anderson said. "C.J.'s just a down-to-earth guy and he works hard every day. Football means a lot to him, so I have no doubt that he's going to be ready. I'm super happy to call him a teammate, a brother and a friend, so I'm excited for him."

As for Anderson, he's getting his NFL feet wet by talking with a Texans legend.

"Me and J.J. (Watt) had a really nice conversation," Anderson said. "We've talked a few times and he's been great at giving me advice, letting me know I could reach out so we can watch film together and stuff like that. He's been one guy that's been very supportive and helpful."

Anderson explained that the two of them haven't broken down film yet because Watt is in Paris. However, Eisen loved the idea of the former and current Texans edge rushers bouncing ideas off of each other.

"He's totally retired, but he's locked in with you," Eisen said. "That's pretty cool, that's exactly the definition of cool."
