WATCH: Houston Texans Running Back & Emergency Kicker Dare Ogunbowale Makes Field Goal vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Without their kicker in the lineup, the Houston Texans turned to running back Dare Ogunbowale... and he delivered.

HOUSTON, TX -- The Houston Texans won in dramatic fashion on Sunday, becoming a part of NFL history in the process.

In the fourth quarter, with the game tied at 30-30, the Texans found themselves in field goal position, with an opportunity to take the lead.

Unfortunately for the Texans, they had a major issue - their kicker, Ka'imi Fairbairn, had been knocked out of the game with an injury.

That's when reserve running back Dare Ogunbowale stole NFL headlines, entering the game as the Texans interim kicker, knocking through a 29-yard field goal to give the lead to Houston with 8:45 to go in the contest.

With the field goal, Ogunbowale became just the first non-kicker in NFL history to make a field goal in a regular season game since 2004, when Wes Welker was able to accomplish the same feat for the Miami Dolphins vs. the New England Patriots.

And given the way the game turned out, coach DeMeco Ryan's in faith in Ogunbowale in that moment, proved to be the difference in the game.

Late in the fourth quarter, the Buccaneers were able to take a 37-33 lead with just 46 seconds to go in the game on a Baker Mayfield touchdown pass.

After that, Texans QB C.J. Stroud led Houston down the field on a magical 75-yard scoring drive, cashing in on a touchdown pass to Tank Dell with just six seconds to go on the play, giving Houston the win.

Now, with the win in hand, the Texans are back to .500 at 4-4, and still in the playoff and AFC South conversations.

And without Ogunbowale's rare feat earlier in the quarter, none of that would have been possible.
