The Houston Texans have added a potentially key piece to the puzzle late in the season, claiming former Tennessee Titans standout defensive tackle Teair Tart off of waivers, according to reports.

Tart was waived by the Titans on Friday after issues between the defensive tackle and the organization reached what was described as a 'breaking point,' and the Titans became dissatisfied with his demeanor on and off the field.

Tart missed time in practice due to personal reasons as well.

“We need Teair and Teair also has an individual situation,” Titans head coach Mike Vrabel said last month. “There's no secret that Teair’s contract’s up after this year. I told him that for you and your family, both things can happen. You can play well and you can help the team, and you can play well and help your family. That's what professional sports is, and I understand it.”

Texans Hold Derrick Henry to NFL Record-Low Numbers

Despite those issues, tart had played in almost every game this season before being cut. The one game he missed was against the Houston Texans on Sunday.

Throughout his four-year career, the former undrafted free agent played in 45 games, starting 36 for Tennessee, and amassing 76 tackles, 16 tackles for loss,14 QB hits, an interception and seven pass deflections.
