Many Philadelphia Eagles players have tried to break running back DeSean Jackson’s rookie record, but it still hasn't been done.

Now after 11 years- Philadephia's first-round pick Jalen Reagor might have what it takes to do it.

Reagor's speed is being compared to that of Jacksons but a big part of Jackson's success was due to the lack of targets on the team his rookie season, something Reagor has a lot of.

Kaitlin O'Toole is joined by Eagles Maven Ed Kracz for his insight on this.

Kaitlin O'Toole: Joining me now is Eagles Maven Ed Kracz. Ed, people are comparing Reagor's speed to that of Jackson's. Do you think it's possible he could beat the standing rookie record?

Jalen Reagor Thumb

Ed Kracz: Well, you know, if you would have asked me last year if Miles Sanders would have broken one of the DeSean Jackson's rookie records, and that was the yards from scrimmage record that he set in 2008 when the DeSean Jackson was a rookie, I'd never would have thought it possible. But, Miles Sanders had that kind of year. He had over 1300 yards from scrimmage. Jackson's record was 1008 yards. Now, his receiving record for yards in a season as a rookie still stands at 912. The one advantage Jackson had in setting that record in 2008 was there weren't a whole lot of playmakers on that team. He kind of stepped into a situation where he had to be the guy, you know, he had to be the man. He had a nondescript cast: Kevin Curtis, Reggie Brown, Hank Baskett. Reagor steps into a situation where he's got a few more playmakers that are going to demand the ball. Two tight ends Zach Ertz, Dallas Goedert. But at the receiver corps, after Jackson, you don't know what Alshon Jeffrey is going to have. So, you know, I think Reagor... I'm kind of coming around on it. Maybe a month ago, I didn't think he had a chance, but the longer I think about it, I think he does have a shot to go over 912 yards receiving this year.

Kaitlin O'Toole: All right. Well, as you said, the Eagles have a lot of targets to throw to. So what kind of production do we need to see out of Reagor for this to happen?

Ed Kracz: Yeah, well, again, I think if the Eagles are going to be successful, they're going to have to find a way to get him involved. I think they're going to do that in a number of ways, not just in the receiving game. I think he's got that running back background where you may see him get some touches. When Jackson set that scrimmage yards record as a rookie, he had 96 yards rushing and 17 carries that gave him the 1008 yards that Miles Sanders broke. So I think that Reagor is going to be used as a running back in spots, maybe 15 to 20 carries this season. He's going to be a very valuable weapon in the punt return game. But I think for the Eagles to be successful, they're going to have to find ways to get him the ball in all three-ways, special teams running and receiving.

Kaitlin O'Toole: All right. Sanders did it. We'll see if Reagor can do it too. Ed, thanks so much for your insight. Appreciate it.
