The Los Angeles Chargers have named Justin Herbert as their starting quarterback. LA’s coach Anthony Lynn was instrumental in this decision and shared the news with reporters on Thursday saying, "He got thrown in the fire. I thought he handled the situation well and I want to see more of him, It's not going to be a situation where he's looking over his shoulder. He's our starting quarterback. He makes a bad play, he has a bad game, he's our quarterback."

Herbert took the reins in Week 2 after Chargers veteran QB Tyrod Taylor suffered a rib injury and a then an accidental punctured lung from an injection. Although Herbert was thrown into the starting position Coach Lynn shared that he likes the way he’s lead the team and managed the huddle. In an interview he shared, "I like the way his teammates have responded to him. He is a leader in his own way. It's the total package for me. It wasn't just the big arm in the games. It's the total package."

Herbert has certainly earned the job and now LA has made it official. The rookie QB will face Drew Brees as the Chargers take on the Saints Monday night.
