The Kansas City Chiefs got their first loss of the season on Sunday and the bad news continues as wide receiver Sammy Watkins was injured during the matchup. According to a report from Adam Schefter, Watkins is expected to miss possibly a couple of weeks due to a hamstring injury sustained against the Las Vegas Raiders.

So what does this mean for the Chiefs? Well, their offense has tended to do better with Watkins in play averaging more points per game and total yards per game over the past 2 seasons when he’s in. In an interview on Monday with Chiefs head coach Andy Reid he assured fans they’ll be ok even if Watkins is out saying, “I’m not going to take away from how good of a player he is. He’s a terrific player, but we also have some other guys who can play too.”

Now is the time for fantasy owners to look to Mecole Hardman and Demarcus Robinson to get a bump in value while Watkins is out. Watkins is still a receiver worth holding on to, fantasy owners just need to be cautious of his injuries which, unfortunately, is an all too familiar story with Watkins. The wide receiver played just 10 games in 2018 and 14 games in 2019 due to injuries. Watkins will likely miss Week 6 vs the Bills.
