The 4-1 Vikings are set to take on the 3-2 Dolphins in sunny south Florida on Sunday afternoon, with temperatures in the mid-80s and humidity making it feel even hotter.

This is a matchup between two first-year head coaches with impressive offensive pedigrees. Kevin O'Connell has led the Vikings to a strong start to the season, while Mike McDaniel had the Dolphins at 3-0 before losing Tua Tagovailoa to a concussion.

Tagovailoa is inactive today, though he's expected to return next week. Teddy Bridgewater is active, but he'll back up third-string rookie Skylar Thompson, who got the first-team reps in practice this week and will make his first career start.

Thompson won't have Miami's ideal offensive line in front of him. Tackles Terron Armstead and Austin Jackson are injured, so backups Greg Little and Brandon Shell will start in their place. Between those two and struggling left guard Liam Eichenberg, there should be opportunities for the Vikings' pass rush to shine in this game.

What Thompson does have is a lot of speed at his disposal in Tyreek Hill, Jaylen Waddle, and Raheem Mostert.

When the Vikings have the ball, things will run through Justin Jefferson and Dalvin Cook like they always do. Cook, a Miami native, is playing his first NFL game in his hometown today. The Dolphins have been solid against the run but have really struggled to defend the pass, so Kirk Cousins could be in line for a big day.

Follow along below for live updates as the game unfolds!

Final Score: Vikings 24, Dolphins 16

Read the recap here.

Fourth quarter

3:01 — Patrick Peterson picks off Teddy Bridgewater and that should seal it for the Vikings.

Vikings 24, Dolphins 10

3:15 — Dalvin Cook is gone. He just ran for a 53-yard touchdown, by far his longest run of the season. Adam Thielen catches a two-point conversion and the Vikings look like they'll win this game.

4:10 — Jaylen Waddle just lost the football. He had a first down but fumbled and Cam Bynum recovered for the Vikings. Huge break for Minnesota.

Vikings 16, Dolphins 10

10:04 — The Dolphins aren't going to go down without a fight. Teddy Bridgewater just led a very impressive seven-play, 75-yard touchdown drive that was capped with a four-yard pass to Mike Gesicki.

Vikings 16, Dolphins 3

14:13 — The Vikings add to their lead with a Kirk Cousins touchdown pass to Adam Thielen. Greg Joseph missed the extra point, but the Vikings have a two-score lead early in the fourth.

Third quarter

0:00 — A scoreless third quarter comes to an end with the Vikings threatening. Kirk Cousins just hit Justin Jefferson for a 47-yard gain down to the Dolphins' 8.

9:24 — Patrick Jones II gets his second sack of the day (and of his NFL career). The Vikings' defense has stepped up so far this half.

13:23 — The Dolphins tried a fake punt on fourth and 1 but Josh Metellus shut it down to get the Vikings the ball back.

Second quarter

Vikings 10, Dolphins 3

0:00 — Greg Joseph drills a short field goal to add to the Vikings' lead at the break.

0:18 — The Vikings punted, but they get the ball back on a wild interception by Harrison Smith that took a bunch of deflections.

1:40 — Dolphins kicker Jason Sanders misses badly from 52 yards out. The Vikings have good field position with time to add to their lead before the half.

Vikings 7, Dolphins 3

2:32 — The Vikings offense finally woke up on that drive. They go 75 yards on just six plays to take the lead with a touchdown. Kirk Cousins hit Adam Thielen twice, hit Justin Jefferson twice, and then found Irv Smith Jr. for a one-yard score.

Dolphins 3, Vikings 0

6:05 — The Dolphins finally take the lead with a 44-yard Jason Sanders field goal. They've been the much better team so far. The Vikings still don't have a first down.

13:48 — Skylar Thompson is headed back to the locker room after a three and out. It could be Teddy Bridgewater time when the Dolphins next have the ball.

14:47 — The Vikings just went three and out for the third time in as many possessions. Their offense has gained just 12 yards on 9 plays, and they picked up eight yards on their first play. An ugly start for this offense.

First quarter

0:32 — The Dolphins are forced to punt after an absurdly penalty-marred drive. They were called for five offensive penalties on a single series, with several big plays getting called back.

7:59 — After a Vikings three and out, the Dolphins moved the ball fairly well on their opening possession but had it stall when Patrick Jones II sacked Skylar Thompson for his first sack of the year. Minnesota has the ball back deep in its own territory.
