Robyn Regehr ready, but will he play for L.A. Kings in Game 1?

Robyn Regehr, out of the Kings' lineup since he suffered a knee injury in the opener of their second round series vs. Anaheim, pronounced himself fit for Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Final against the New York Rangers.

"I feel ready," Regehr said. "It just comes down to a coach’s decision, what they want to do with the lineup."

No doubt the veteran would be a valuable addition to a group that struggled with its defensive integrity at times against Chicago in the Western Conference Final. But when asked at today's press conference about the status of Regehr, coach Darryl Sutter all but shut the door.

"He's getting closer," Sutter said. "With only the one game, the way it's broke out this week, we probably wouldn't play him tonight."

Makes sense. No reason to tinker with a winning formula just yet, and Regehr might be more valuable with an extra 72 hours to recover before Game 2.

The door is open just a crack, though. If Sutter inserts him into the lineup, look for Matt Greene to sit.
