Devils veteran Patrik Elias reaches 1,000th career point against Sabres

The Devils' Patrik Elias recorded his 1000th career point on Tuesday night against the Sabres.

New Jersey Devils’ Patrik Elias reached 1000 career points with a goal and two assists against the Buffalo Sabres on Tuesday night.

It took the center 1187 games to reach the milestone, but he didn’t give it much thought prior to the 4-1 Devils win against Buffalo.

At this point, however, he's not even thinking about the milestones.

"Maybe at the beginning of the season," Elias told Tom Gulitti of the Record. "But, the way it's been going, I'm like, 'Oh my God, I'll be lucky to get it maybe this year.' "

Even though Elias has missed 10 games this season due to a groin injury and the mumps, he still holds several Devils records. He’s the team’s leading goal scorer (399) and assist leader (601). He already had a secure hold on points before Tuesday’s game as well.

While this is great news for the veteran Devil, the team is still 10 points away from a playoff wildcard spot midway through the season.
