Watch: Penguins' Sidney Crosby scores his 300th career goal

The Penguins' Sidney Crosby scored his 300th career goal on Wednesday night in a game against the rival Flyers.

Pittsburgh Penguins star Sidney Crosby entered Wednesday's game against the Philadelphia Flyers needing just one more goal to reach 300 for his career. After scoring only five goals in March, the 27-year old wasted no time cashing in on the opportunity to collect the milestone against one of his team’s biggest rivals.

Crosby netted his 26th goal of the season and 300th of his career just 4:30 into the first period after finishing off a rebound from a Patric Hornqvist shot. The play started when off when the Penguins won the faceoff and caused havoc out in front of Flyers goaltender Steve Mason. Ian Cole was also credited with an assist on the goal.

Crosby’s 300 career goals are good enough for fifth place in the Penguins' all-time record books. He also stands in third with his 549 assists only trailing JaromirJagr's 640 assists and Mario Lemieux's 1,033.

Luckily for Sid the Kid, he reached 300 before his 28th birthday. Perhaps images like this will be featured on at least one birthday card.
