The Buffalo Sabres added another building block to the fold in signing prospect Hudson Fasching to an entry-level deal on Monday.

Fasching, who finished his junior season at the University of Minnesota, was one of the organization‘s top prospects since being acquired from the Los Angeles Kings in 2014.

The Buffalo News reported that the Sabres opened negotiations with the 20-year-old with the hope of inserting him in their lineup as early as this coming week. Joining the NHL club immediately would been seen as a potential lure for Fasching to forgo his senior season and sign a pro contract now.

Fasching, a 6'2", 210-pound winger, co-led the Gophers with 20 goals this season and has 94 career points (46 goals, 48 assists) in 115 career collegiate games.

He was originally drafted by the Kings in the fourth round of the 2013 NHL draft.
