Watch: Marchand’s shorthanded goal lifts Team Canada to World Cup title
It's been a pretty good week for Brad Marchand.
The pint-sized forward got a pretty handsome contract extension from the Boston Bruins, and then he capped off his World Cup of Hockey experience by scoring the tournament-winning goal in spectacular fashion in Game 2 of Team Canada’s final-round series against Team Europe.
After Bruins teammate Patrice Bergeron tied the game at 17:07 of the third period and with Team Canada defenseman Drew Doughty in the penalty box for high-sticking, Marchand took a feed from Jonathan Toews in the slot and rifled a shot past goalie Jaroslav Halak with 43.1 seconds left for a 2-1 lead.
"The whole thing's been a bit of a whirlwind,” Marchand said. "It's been a dream come true"

The win is the sixteenth straight for Canada in international tournaments since 2010.
Marchand was the third Boston player to score in what turned out to be the tournament’s finale, after Team Europe defenseman Zdeno Chara notched the game’s opening tally in the first period.
