MAMMOTH LAKE, Calif. (AP) -- Two-time Olympic halfpipe gold medalist Shaun White sat out Friday morning's Olympic qualifier as longtime Olympic hopeful Danny Davis soared to victory.

Davis posted a score of 95.20 during his first run to slip by Taylor Gold's score of 93.80. Matt Ladley finished third.

Former Olympic gold medalist Kelly Clark won her third straight competition with a score of 95.0.

White, who secured a spot on the US slopestyle team on Thursday, is expected to compete in the afternoon event. White crashed earlier Thursday and had to be helped down the mountain before returning to reach the top of the podium later in the day.

Davis beat White in a qualifier for the Vancouver Games four years ago but was injured in an all-terrain vehicle accident that crushed his pelvis.
