US figure skater Wagner likes Sochi's rainbow hues

SOCHI, Russia (AP) American figure skater Ashley Wagner loves the multihued designs all around the Sochi Olympics - they remind her of a rainbow gay pride flag.

Wagner has been one of the most outspoken athletes against Russia's so-called gay ''propaganda'' law. She couldn't help but mention to reporters Wednesday her amusement at the brightly colored graphics at Olympic venues.

Wagner says she hasn't felt any backlash in Sochi from her past comments. She promises she'll keep speaking out because ''it doesn't really matter where I am - it's still my opinion.''

She adds: ''I just believe in equality for all.''

The law bans pro-gay ''propaganda'' that could be accessible to minors. Activists view the measure as forbidding most public expressions of gay-rights sentiment.

A two-time U.S. champion, Wagner expects to skate her short program in the team competition Saturday.
