South Korea: no sharing of Winter Olympic events with North

SEOUL, South Korea (AP) The South Korean hosts of the 2018 Winter Olympics have ruled out the possibility of sharing some events with North Korea.

Gangwon Province governor Choi Moon-soon said in a statement Monday that it would be ''realistically impossible'' for Olympic host Pyeongchang to share some of the competitions with North Korea.

Choi said fielding a unified Korean team would be as far as South Korea could go in using the Olympics to promote peace between the countries. Gangwon Province governs Pyeongchang, a ski resort town near South Korea's eastern coast.
