Britain could choose 15-a-side stars for Olympic rugby team

LONDON (AP) Britain's team for the men's Olympic rugby sevens tournament could include players from the 15-a-side teams of England, Wales and Scotland.

Britain coach Simon Amor said Friday he has been ''looking closely both at sevens specialists from across the three unions and a number of 15-a-side players throughout the season and know the balance we need in the squad.''

Amor said previous sevens experience would be important to blend in with the team's current players, and that he is looking for 15-a-side players that ''can make the physical, mental and game understanding transition.''

Sonny Bill Williams (New Zealand) and Quade Cooper (Australia) are among 15-a-side stars who could play in Rio de Janeiro, where rugby makes its return to the Olympics after 92 years.
