The younger brother of Najim Laachraoui, a Brussels bomber suspect, has won the European Taekwondo title, reports AFP.

Mourad Laachraoui, whose brother allegedly killed 14 people in a suicide bombing at the Brussels airport on March 22, became champion on Thursday night when he defeated Spaniard Jesus Tortosa for the gold medal. The younger Laachraoui had already qualified for the Olympics last year.

After the attacks in March, Laachraoui told reporters that he and his family had just as many questions about his brother’s acts as they did.

“Our family has the same questions you all have,” Laachraoui said. “He used to be a nice intelligent guy. I couldn’t believe it.”
