Katie Ledecky wins gold medal in 200m freestyle

Katie Ledecky won her third medal of the Olympics by taking home the gold in the 200m freestyle on Tuesday.

American Katie Ledecky won gold at the 200m freestyle on Tuesday, giving her a third medal at the Rio games.

Ledecky trailed after the first two turns of the race, but pulled away by the final stretch. Sweden’s Sarah Sjostrom finished second, while Australia’s Emma McKeon finished third. Ledecky won with a time of 1:53:73.

Earlier this week, Ledecky also won gold with a world-record performance during the 400m freestyle, and won silver in the 4 by 100m freestyle relay.

Ledecky is next scheduled to race Thursday in the heats for the 800m freestyle.
