French Olympian Aurelie Muller was stripped of her silver medal in the 10-kilometer marathon swim Monday after it was determined that she obstructed an opponent.

Officials determined that as she and Rachele Bruni of Italy reached for the finish line, Muller pushed the Italian under the water, preventing her from completing the race.

After the decision, Bruni was elevated to the silver medal and Brazil’s Poliana Okimoto was given the bronze.

Sharon van Rouwendaal of the Netherlands claimed the gold in the event, finishing 16.6 seconds ahead of Muller.

Mueller was the gold medalist in the 10km open water swim at the world championships in 2015.
