Michael Phelps secretly married his fiancée before Olympics
Olympic swimmer Michael Phelps was secretly married to his longtime girlfriend Nicole Johnson in June, the Arizona Republicreports.
Though Phelps and Johnson have not publicly announced their union, the Arizona Republic obtained the record of marriage for the couple. They got engaged in February and wed on June 13, a month after their son Boomer was born and a month before Phelps competed in the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro.
Phelps won five gold medals at the Rio Games, bringing his career gold total to 23. He has said the 2016 Olympics, the fifth Olympics of his career, would be his last.
Johnson posted a photo of herself with Phelps and their son on the day of her wedding, but did not mention a ceremony.
Phelps met the former Miss California USA in 2007 and they dated on and off ever since.
